My dog has just been given ProHeart12 injectable protecting for one year as recommended by vets. Upon injection, my dog has been no appetite for 4 days and diarrhoea the first day. I thought it is just a mood swing.
Then i come to realize how dangerous is the injectable Heartworm prevention. I highly suspect my dog is affected by the drug hopefully no severe problem later on.
Wondering why US only allow 6 months prevention and Malaysia is using the 12 months prevention which is more concentrated and dangerous. I guess the side effect for 12 months prevention is more devastating.
I will be going to sue whoever dispense the drug if my dog got problem due to this later on.
this is not new in US. think of it this way, if ur pup can get along or tolerate with the drug injected for th next 12 months, there is NO WAY u can take the drug out. So i rather be safe than sorry.
I will opp for the monthly heartworm prevention tablet.

i am shocked tat vets still recommend to use this! If my dogs have shown no signs of trouble after the injection, upon their next dose it is alright for me to use the tablets?

No we didn't. We just assumed that it was from complictions arising from Tick fever that he was having. But he didn't seem to have the symptoms like loss of appetite..etc ------------------------------------------------------- Gurdian of furkids: On Earth: Max In Heaven: Mani (1991), Bonnie (1997), Musso (1999), Brunno (2003), Shadow (2010), Rover (2011)
