Boils/Pimples on my dog's body	Can't Post

Aiya... My Abby used to have this problem. The vet said it could be caused by teething. It's not watery boils, just something like a tiny bulge all over her shoulder/elbow area. The vet also said it could be caused by bacterias from playing with my other dog, Chelsea and could be caused by anything.

He gave Abby some antibiotics. The boils went away but now it's back. I noticed it got worse after we went to Ampang Pecah ( near KKB ) for a swim. Could it be caused by allergies to the waters? The waters aren't exactly crystal clear, like light yellowish colour caused by the rain.

Will those boils go away in time or should I make another appointment with the vet. I dont want my Abby to take antibiotics or other types of medications unnecessarily.

Hi ya ...

You vet is right - swellings can appear on dogs for many reasons ... not possible to determine nature or cause over the forum ...

Can be anything from a reoccurance of the previous/old swelling, an insect bite, bacterial infection from a cut ... or a cyst ... etc etc ...

Best to take dog back to vet for examination ...

Hi, thanks for replying.

Well, I'm not sure. It hasn't happened before. The boils started when we brought Chelsea ( she's a Goldie ) home... first, it was teeth marks on Abby's body, then those boils started to surface on her body.

The reason I'm not sure is because I brought my furkids for a swim in Ampang Pecah. It might be the water... but Chelsea doesn't have the boils ( not any that I can see )

Hi ...

Yes, that is what I am trying to say ... cannot be sure what is causing the "boils" ... they may be old or new bites which have become infected ... or reinfected by swimming in not so clean water ... or they may be swellings caused by cysts ... they may be growths or tumours ... you need to get a vet to examine Abby ... If the infection is deep-seated then applying home remedies may not solve the problem & reinfection will keep happening ...

Maybe Chelsea does not have the problem because Abby was the one bitten, and therefore Chelsea has no open cuts or wounds ... Maybe Chelsea has better skin condition or immunity etc etc ... Many possible factors ...

So, if the swellings still haven't gone down - do seriously consider taking your dog to the vet ...

Wah your dog's sense of smell is fantastic what is the distance from the car park and the clinic? Take him/her to the vet often just to make him /her immuse to the smell of medicine so next time he/she wo't shake like a leaves if not he/she will be shaking like a leave fallin from the tree

(^_^) It's very close. Just a walkway and drain away from the metered parking space. They remember the place... plus, we didn't bring pillows along when we go to the vet.

We always have lots and lots of pillows for my babies when we go a-travelling. (^_^)

try parking a distance away. then let them walk. once they reach the vet, they normally won;t shake at all or would be absolutely angelic.

tried that on my mongrels, westie and boxers.

the vet reckons that they are either tired or distracted by their walkies.

that should make your trip to the vet not so sakit hati for you...and not so scary for the doggies.

ahem...walk the doggie(s) yah...not carry them in your arms and walk...

that's what my friend did. carries her chow chow and walked 200 metres to the vet.had us all in stiches when she arrived at the vet.

she retorted "you say park further away and walk!"...

true...must be HEAVY...

but just a precaution loh...some people actually carried their babies and walked that distance to tire and ddistract their doggies LOL.

your furbaby may have to walk faster. sometimes if the parking is still close...hehehe we walk long way by walking to another road etc before heading for the vet.
