Does anyone know where in Malaysia I can be trained as a professional dog trainer? (any kind) or Do I have to go such school overseas like USA to be trained so? If anyone knows which school is good for overseas please give me sites, address, or telephone number. Thankssssssssssssssss!!

hi~!

i went to the dog show in ipoh last month and there were some indian guys who were showing ppl photos of thier trained dogs...i left the namecard at home.....the place is in perak and i think i remember seeing on the card that they train dogs as well as ppl to be trainers.....but am not sure how good they are..

as for overseas instituition, IMHO, i think US would be the best choice.

IMHO = In my humble opinion

it's not gonna be cheap to take a course in canine training.....i know some US schools charge USD2K, some charge USD6K and it's only for about 2 months..

Yeah, I know it's very expensive...the school i've found online so far is very expensive too. but my dad has been agreed to me...it only lasts for about 12 weeks or maybe I can stay more and get paid while learning. Not easy eh? But its really really interesting and I believe it wlil worth it!!

It's called Triple Crown Academy in Texas but I'm not sure yet because haven't applied....hmmm!! I knowwww it's damn expensive but I'm sure I'll pay back this gift someday to my parents. and I will work hard and earn lots!!

Yesh, I have one Golden Retriever! It's she and her name is Lucky. :) She's about 1yr and 3months old now. How about yours? I do not thinkor not think I'll be first trainer in Malaysia since there are some trainers who came back from overseas! :P May I ask one thing? Why do you say "Stop Buying" "Don't Buy from Petshop"? Lucky came from one of the pet hops in ss2, lol I'm just wondering why, hehe! I'm sorry for a late reply. I don't use much internet these days. :)

yeah...true also...but i think most trainers train in germany...some ppl told me trainers from the US is the best....dunno.... Crazy

what i meant is that puppies from petshops mostly come from puppy mills...puppy mills are like a 'factory' that churns out puppies...their main purpose is to make money coz doggie business is damn good right now man...the dogs in puppy mills are like breeding machines....all they do is breed and breed and breed...they are not well taken care of and it's really a sad state....although some mills are quite clean....also, you never know if the sire and dam are healthy or not...hopefully your goldie is fine....so next time if you plan to get another dog...just get it from a breeder.... Smile

Kewl! Lucky is naughty too. She loves to sleep on my pillow and occupy my bed. She doesn't really sleep on the floor but sometimes.:P It's nice sleeping with her but sometimes we feel it's too hot and we'll be kicking and punching and pushing with each other. :P

I have no idea on which country has the best training. But I think it'll depend on yourself. and I believe that How truely you're devoted to it and compassion, love towads dogs. :) I like the way one of the schools in USA said "You do not need any prior dog training experience, only a passion for dogs. You must also enjoy working with a variety of people." I thought that was wonderful. I thought I had to go to universities and do some animal behaviour major. :P Well, I'm glad.

Hm, I see. I didn't know that. But I think I have Lucky's certificate. The paper there stated the address of the breeder (somewhere in Shah Alam, if I'm not mistaken) and Lucky's parents are there too! I guess she's alright. She looks healthy and happy always. :)

But I wondered.... it's said to hear that those doggies are treated in such a way. But if no one wants to buy from petshops, who is gonna take care of doggies there? No matter how they are and how they look like, they are dogs. They have emotion like us. I've seen some dogs pictures without three legs only but one owner said it was the best dog she ever had and she loved it very much. :) I don't know what I'm saying know, crap! Haha. I guess I'm so stressed out with my college work. :P

Sure, what you said is right. You gotta have passion for doggies, hehe! Yeah, I know. But there are some people who actually took those courses and became trainers... I wondered what is that for... Maybe that's for more knowledge? I just can't understand dogs by reading books and studying theories and all that stuff. I rather do face to face la... :P

Well, I didn't know the dogs in pet shops came from there and how they are but I still like them, no matter what. :P

I was born in 10th September, 1985. So I am 18+ now. What about you? Were you the same age? hehe!

of course... practical is always the best and always more interesting than deadpan theory....i guess those courses just help them understand the doggies better....there's even a course called canine psychology you know....all about how doggies think....

surprising? well in fact, i have friends who share the same birthdate as me you know....not just one but two! there's this guy who is born on the same day and same year as me, and another girl, my pen pal is a year older than me but on the same date as well...hehehe....and there's this girl in my college has the same birth date as yours but 2 years older than you....so you see? heheheh....lotsa ppl....... well..it is not too late to train a dog when he's older...just that you need more patience and time to train the older dog. it is perfectly possible to train the older dog. i'm now training my billy and he's already 2 yrs going to 3 yrs..a bit hard coz he has some bad habit but still trainable...no problems there at all. ppl say you cannot teach an old dog new tricks but i disagree with that. Wink

So I'll be leaving her here for few months and my parents will send her as soon as I'm settled down somewhere. :D Till then I'll must be a good trainer and make her a better goodie doggie. And I'll take care everything no matter what. I promised her. :D

Hi! I have come back to Malaysia just 2days ago. I'm not sure what the plan is but what I know is that I'll be going to college again at the end of this month. I'd like to study more about animal behaviour and pshycology and blah blah! so tell us how was life there at the training school? must have been tough there ha...

fyi, i have a toy poodle, daisy...she is 6 months++...i just gave away my lovely dalmatian phoebe yesterday...one lady adopted her :(( i had to coz not much time for her and most of the time she has to spent alone in the porch...and starts destroying stuffs coz she wants attention...so decided(against our will) to give her up for adoption to better home...glad to learn that she's adapting well to the new environment though... :)

wahhh...like nairud said, u can train our doggies now...hehehhehee...my daisy is very cuteeeeeeeee and notty...she knows some basics like sit, hand, down, rollover...

btw, what kinda training are u into? basic obedience or agility?

Just wondering... since you are back and fully qualified... do you think you will consider starting a Obedience Training class for us puppy.com members in the Klang velley... sonce you are located in S'ngor... most trainers we have her is so very price and so serious...

It will be good experience for you and a bonus for us all to have someone share nad show us all how its done the pro-way...

Time flew damn fast and I still can not believe I passed through all those stages to now.

The life there was AWESOME! It was the best school ever!!!!!!!!!!!! DOGS DOGS EVERYWHERE....! It was not easy to train those rescue dogs because some of them had lots of problems. I had a dalmatian, dog agressive dog, which no one knew that she was deaf, I could do nothing because I did not know about it till they changed the handler but I'm glad that she's been adopted by a sweet couple. :D The other was Mixed Breed, which had fearful and displaced agression. I had no idea what was wrong with that dog but he used to bit me so much, more than 20times on my right knee. He gave me nice punctures and bruise. lol Now I have scars all over my knee, HAHA! I had two other more but they were easy to train somehow and were very obedient. lol But overall, it was really great even though there was sometimes tough, and sad times.

I'm glad to hear that Phoebe is getting well adapted to the new environment. You're a good owner, thinking of your dog really carefully. :) I bet, that was the best choice for Phoebe!

I'm intersted in every kind of training! Definitely, I'm into Obedience and Agility! How I wish I had those Agility equipments...to train my Agility Machine! LOL Do you know any place where I can get access to the equipment in Malaysia? I wish I had a dog that is suitable for Agility so that I can compete with people! lol <<< I wish. MANNNNNNNN I want so many dogs for anything, I'm so greedie! :P What kinda training are you into!?

not a problem, a pity not many ppl know a place like that would sell clickers.

sure we do it because of interest and the love of the sport, but no doubt it would be *nice* to earn some pocket money at the same time wehehehe..

i see you're looking for a clicker, so they teach you clicker training back in US? or a good blend of different training methods? u know, taking a course like that has always been my lifelong dream. you've been there, done that. hope i get my turn too, someday, that is :/

hope to meet you at the next gathering. i have a golden too. perhaps we could talk more about obedience then.

Sure, if you have a dream then it will come true someday! No matter how long it takes, you'll achieve the dream. There was even 60 something yrs old in my class, not to worry about the age, just in case! LOL Never forget the dream, that is very important!

I was just looking for the clickers because I like looking for new stuffs in Pet Shops! Also, it'll be nice for those people to use it especially for fun clicker training tricks. :D

I'd love to talk about doggies and do not get scared of me if I ever get so hyper about doggie...esp in front of your dog! :P I was in one gathering before, which was in January at Central Park in Banar Utama. I do not know whether if you saw me there or not but I came very late for everything and I just saw some people with doggies. I saw many Goldens swimming in the lake! (My Lucky won't go into the water LoL) Well, see you then! Kya! Laugh
