Re: [nairud] Dog Catching Competition?

Hi, Thanks for bringing this up... In the mean time everyone should help to STOP THIS BARBARIC DOG CATCHING COMPETITION
I would like to call upon all individuals to speak up against the Selayang Municipal Council for organizing this BARBARIC competition. I also urge all individuals to NOT take part in the competition in order to preserve our integrity as decent human beings.

See cleopatrathelabrador.blogspot.com for details on how you can help...

Re: [nairud] Dog Catching Competition?

Yeah 50 years since the Queen let us run wild on our own, this is what happened. How sad right? Unimpressed

Hmmm maybe we should all pull together, whoever is good at photoshop and designing, should come out with a flyer. Then the rest, donate like a few bucks per person to an account, use that money and print flyers and we get some 'monkeys' and go to selayang to give it a new face lift. hahahahahahaah

Then we take a good shot of something, and send it to all the newspapers. Maybe can win RM50 from the Star too! Hahahahahahah and then use that money and print more flyers to be distributed around. Hahahahahahaha

LOL crazy idea i know. Oh well, that's a sign it's time for LUNCH! Hahahahaha Tongue

Re: [nairud] Dog Catching Competition?

Hey all, it's in the Star papers today under Nation page 31. I think we should go on stop this stupid brutality towards animals. I am really surprised that there are silly Council President that resorts to this kind of barbaric acts to curb stray dogs. Seriously, why don't they do that to curb stray cats who wonder around everywhere and many times poo in people's home???? I mean I do not condone this act but there seems to be some inconsistencies here. I am ashamed that there are such people in the authorities with small and pint size pea brains. I think our furkids have larger and smarter brains than them!

Re: [all] Dog Catching Competition?

http://thestar.com.my/...96676&sec=nation

Is this enough? I don't think so. This is only a very short article and this seems an advertisement to them? What the hell is going on? Each month, the council pays RM20 for each stray dog caught as an incentive to the dog-catchers. This is really ridiculous!!!!!!!!!Mad They never use brain!!!!! Plzzzzzzzz.... I begged them to use money wisely to cope with the stray dogs!!!

Really heartaching seeing this...

Re: [min_puzzle] Dog Catching Competition?

Hi all...

As "seahorse" (Kay) rightly mentioned there is a new petition. There was a slight technical problem with the earlier one. So please re-sign on this new petition okay?

http://www.petitiononline.com/doghunt2/petition.html

Guys,

While I know everyone is really upset about this, and I am too, we must keep our cool and do out best to fight this in a rational manner.

Also please note, that signing the petition more than once is not going to do any good. Please understand that petitions only work with real names and real people. An online petition makes it easier to gather signatures, but we also need to be responsible about it. Please ensure that your proper names are included and valid email addresses.

Personally I would like to sign more than once too, but a "fictitious" petition will not help the cause.

Anyway I am trying to keep my blog with the latest uptodate information on this matter... So please check http://cleopatrathelabrador.blogspot.com for the latest news. Cause it's quite difficult for me to update so many places with the latest...

thanks a million for all your support.

Re: [natasha_fernz] Dog Catching Competition?

As always there are letters supporting this 'competition' being sent to the newspapers, and the message portrayed by these letters have invariably been 'if dog lovers love dogs so much they should go out and catch the strays and keep them in their own compound'. As much as I think that these ppl are ignorant/short sighted I cannot answer as I have honestly not done any 'charity' work for dogs - orphans plenty dogs no.

As such can someone who actively runs a pet rescue or someone from the SPCA please reply to these letters, detailing what measures have been done to spay and rehome unwanted puppies.

It might not sway the minds of these selfish individuals but at least it would highlight to the public that dog lovers have been doing the 'correct' thing and that the council is taking the easy way out.

Cheers

Re: [madmoz] Dog Catching Competition?

Dear Madmoz,

It is unfortunate that so many people are so narrow minded, and I am sadened that some of these people are so called "dog lovers" too. These "dog lovers" only care for their own dogs and not any others. They will only react to this competition if their dogs are caught...

As I have mentioned before somewhere, "All it takes for evil to triumph is for the good people to do nothing"

I have written a few things on my blog and people can read it there if they are interested. Because at the end of the day, it's not just cruelty to animals, it also boils down to the destruction of humanity and morality of man-kind.

In the mean timeI would like to extend a big thank you to everyone who turned up to support our cause at the MPS today. It is greatly appreciated.

Hi Immy...

You can actually leave long comments after EACH post on my blog... you just need to have a google account to leave comments... Click on the PAW PRINTS link after each post to leave longer comments...

And yes you are right in that we cannot believe these clowns. They have no idea what they are talking about. A friend of mine commented that they might have just said that because they have no idea how to look after dogs, so they think since humans eat 3 times a day, and bathe 2 times a day at least -they will just pretend that they do the same for the dogs... What a load of bullshit if you ask me...

Anyway guys, remember to come support us tomorrow at MPS at 9.00 am. For latest updates, visit my blog as usual...

Re: [madmoz] Dog Catching Competition?

Madmoz,

You're absolutely right... alot of us have put our heads together in the wake of this emergencu and have showed that together we can work and make a difference...

Majlis Perbandaran Selangor has scrapped the Dog Catching Competition. All dog lovers and animal rights defenders can now breathe a huge sigh of relief.

The Coalition of Animal Lovers Malaysia (CALM - literally formed by regular people in response to this nonsense) would like to thank each and everyone of you for your support over the past 10 days or so. The Selayang Council has scrapped the dog catching competition today, after coming under heavy fire from animal rights groups such as the SPCA, ROAR, PETPOSTITIVE, MARPO and CALM.

However, we could not have done it without the contribution from each and everyone of you. We would like to thank all animal lovers who took the time to sign the Online Petitions, attended the Peaceful Protest, attended the handover of Memorandum & Petition Signatures, and took the time to be present at today's unruly meeting with the MPS. We also thank everyone who has taken the time to blog about it and to link to Mad About Labradors to keep your readers abreast with the latest news.

We would like to thank everyone who wrote in to the press. All the letters that you have written to the press, published or unpublished, caused this issue to be given unprecedented attention in our local media. This competition could not have been stopped without all your efforts and also prayers. Thank you all for having a heart...

Will be posting post operation Stop the Dog Hunt News on my blog... In the mean time, to everyone else, to know what really transpired at MPS, and to see what kind of people that we have on our local councils who are supposed to be working for us taxpayers... see http://cleopatrathelabrador.blogspot.com

Thank you everyone for your invaluable support...
