Dog's right...how about Protection??

npk Dog Kichi Jul 5, 2005, 7:32 AM Views: 1036 Dog's right...how about Protection?? I read several thread about dog's right...but how about protection?? I think that the owner has to provide adequate protection to the dog. I read(after making a search on Microchip) on Microchiop..some refuse to do it b'cos they claim that it is painful. It is MORE painful to know that your dog is missing and wonder if he/she is still alive, ran down by a car or being kept by some irresponsible people. Microchipping is still new in Malaysia but we must support this method of tracking. I read somewhere in this Forum that a Rottw. was stole and sold to a guy who claimed that he had the dog for months. If it was not for the microchip, the original owner would not have got the dog back. Ask yourself, if you see your dog in your neighbours compound and he/she refuses to return back to you...what can you do?What can the police do(if the police cares of a missing dog case)? To me microchip is the ONLY ID that a dog can have. DO what you need to do as a responsible owner...microchip your dog, if there is love between your dog and you...the best Protection tat you can provide...I may be wrong Just my 2 cents on Dog's Protection.... ai_ney Ultra ALPHA Jul 5, 2005, 7:20 PM Views: 1027 Re: [npk] Dog's right...how about Protection?? hi npk, not that i don't agree with u... i do... microchipping is a good way to identify a dog... besides tattooing a dog's ear, which is painful... having said that, how many places u know that has the microchip scan? i do not think even the local animal shelters has this scan... and not all vets are equipped with it... correct me if i'm wrong... microchipping is, in fact, still new in malaysia... as it is with responsible ownership, but that's another story... In Europe, it is compulsory, if you plan to travel with your dog. I don’t know if it is painful for the dog, but I doubt it. If it would be painful then the dog would start scratching on this area and I never heard about something like that. Said that, it is certainly possible that the vet is doing it wrongly and causes pain to the dog. It might be a good idea when all members would reply to it or even better, when we would start a poll. Simply sorting out who has done it for his dog and if the dog showed signs of pain or not. We might even figure out which vet is best prepared for it.
