hi, i am from johor but currently stay in kuching..for study..i have been stay here for 4 years..after finish my bachelor degree, now further to master degree..i do bought a puppy here,just like the one u can see in the picture..she is just a lovely doggie!:)
but, i really duno what breed she is..i bought her without cert., and the boss only told me that she is a terrier..i duno much about the dog breed b4 i bought her(i duno there are various kind of terrier Blush

), so i also din ask so much.. Frown

she is now 4 months old..

Yeap I am working inKL and the picture is my doggie BoyGeorge. He is a 5 month old maltese. Naughty but adorable. I did not realise it is so difficult to take care of its furs - when he was about 3 months plus it was okay to comb every alternate day -- now even if I comb every day, it still entangles.

I was hoping someone on the puppy com would enlighten me as to how I can bring my doggie home to Kuching whenI visit my parents. My husband is a west malaysia so which is why I am working here....

I dont know why the Sarawak govt is so damn strict about dogs coming in ... after all, if we produce his medical/health cert, they should allow .... someone told me the quarantine in Sarawak for dogs is one year. If that is the case, I pity all the dogs in the quarantine .... if I were them, I would have gone crazy even after a month in that .....

actually i email the officer of department of veterinary service already, this is his reply:

"Please be informed that Sarawak state had banned the import of animals
(Except bird) from West Malaysia. Thus, you cannot bring dog from West
Malaysia.

this is the veterinary department wedsite.

one pet shop owner(she is from peninsular) have told me that if the doggie is directly bring from peninsular is strictly banned,but if it is bring through sabah(from peninsular->sabah->sarawak),then it might be allow..but require half year quarantine also.i am not sure about this, but maybe u can email the officer..

the government is so strict on dog coming in because they claim that peninsular have the rabies virus lo..what can we do? Unsure

Gosh that is really tough..... No dogs to Sarawak? Oh dear it looks like I will have to reduce my holidays as well as my Balik kampung visits. My poor BoyGeorge will have to stay in the dog hotel when I am gone -- this is not good coz they will pick up the habit of peeing/shitting in the cage coz they are locked up in there for hours..... oh dear. Thanks for the infor.

May be we all dog lovers should campaign / petition that they allow as least pet dogs which are well taken care of, fully vacinated ones .........

I realise my BoyGeorge picked up the bad habit of wee weeing in the cage after the dog hotel stint for three days -- and I had to get him back on track again each time .....

where to put my yaya ah..it's very depend..
if my bf didn't go back with me, then i will leave yaya to him..
if he go back with me, then i try to ask my new housemate(they just will move in July) to take care of her.
if they dun like doggie, then will try to ask one of my fren(sarawakian) which is doggie lover(she got a very cute maltese!!:))to help me.
if she is not free(still study), then the last choice is send to the pet shop.. Frown

but then my yaya will very pity la..she never sleep in cage b4,i think she sure will cry.. Frown

and some more who knows the doggie there got ticks or sick o not..if my Yaya get infection...wah..i cant imagine..

normal holiday is still ok, coz i think my bf wouldn't go back with me(he is working now),but i just afraid the coming chinese new year holiday lo.everybody wan to go back..then i pai se to ask my sarawakian fren to help also..still think of others way out.

finally i found the thread that discuss on doggie boarding..maybe u can try to ask this person(nicky_spykeaz) can help u to take care ut boy o not..

i have a a good news to tell u.i have received an email from sarawak veterinary department officer, which he said now the peninsular doggie is allow to import to sarawak already..here is the original msg from him:

Good news to you. The ban on import of dog and cat from Pen. Malaysia
is lifted. However, there are conditions to follow and the animal need
to be quarantined from 1 to 6 months depending on the compliance of
import conditions.
Copy of the import condition is attached

if u want to see the document that is attach, u give me ur email address la..i will forward to u..but there is still at least a 1 month quarantine, so if u come back for a short holidays, then better dun bring back ur boy lo..

At the very least, I think your new housemate like dogs since they are still moving in when they know u have a dog - that is a consolation. ya, probably they can help u take care of the dog.

I may not be going back during the C New Year but may go for holiday ... du not really know where yet.

How old is yr dog? If is big? Does it bark alot?

I am staying in a condo now - but am looking for a house to buy and move into ... so that I do not have the problem of sneaking my doggie in and out ...

i have 3 doggies actually..the one show in my avatar is youngest one, only 4months++..still have 2 local breeds doggie, i dun know their exactly DOB,but one is already with me 13 months(yang yang) and one is 9 months(da da).yang yang is my friend give to me one,he found him in his house "longkang", he is still puppy that time. yang yang is a very smart and clever boy..his coat is white with some brown marked and a bit water proof,not easy to get wet and dirty,i so surprise of that.he seldom bark, only bark when necessary, he can differentiate well who is stranger and who is my friends.but he dun like malay or indonesian, he like to bark at them.i also wonder why.but all my friend like him.

i adopt da da from SPCA here, the time when i bring him back, he is still very small, but now so big already..eat a lots..haha!! Laugh

he like to bark a lot, that's what make me headache..last time even worse, always bark when early in the morning..but now not so often already..my housing area got a lot of wild doggie, when they come infront my house gate, da da will start to bark.. Unsure

he is not as smart as yang yang, and not listen to me one, make me very angry sometimes.. Mad

and he is the one always complain by my old housemate.once in a time,my bf plan to send him back to spca lo,then finally we cant bear lo..and i think he will sad too if separate with us.so he is still with us now..hopefully he wouldn't complain by my new housemate la!

yaya is seldom bark la..she will only bark when the time da da not listen to me( she is very ke bo one).when i bath da da and he try to run away, then yaya will bark at him..very cute! Smile

sometimes she also bark when she cannot reach something, normally when her toy roll under the table where she cannot reach..1stly i will help her to take out the toy, but now i wouldn't do this infront of her..becoz i notice that she try to bark to get my attention to help her do something..this is a bad habit. so when she bark i just ignore her..so now she seldom bark already.even she wan to get something, she will just lie down and and wait for me.

but yaya got a very bad habit, she like to bite the news paper, so it's very hard for me to train her pee pee and poo poo on the news paper..she is now pee and poo at one fix corner in my room..b4 this i seldom at home,but start next week, i will have more time to stay at home, hopefully i can manage to train her la..

haha..i always think that doggie lover always will make sacrified for their doggie..i also think to move to corner house ah..so that my doggie can have more paly ground..but my landlord very good to me le..and i stay this house for 3 years liao..maybe after i finish study 1st lo..i plan to work here la..so will find a corner house at that time..:)

if u really bring ur boy come back kuching for holidays, let me know oh..i wan to meet this cute boy! Frown

This is the rules on import doggie from peninsular

REGULATIONS FOR THE IMPORTATION OF DOGS
AND CATS FROM PENINSULAR MALAYSIA INTO SARAWAK, MALAYSIA

Condition No: DA.1761/ A/2005/(5A)
Effective from: 20 June 2005

A. Animal : Dogs and Cats
B. Country of Export : Peninsular Malaysia
C. Purpose : Any purpose
D. Regulations for importation :

1. Import Licence
The consignment of animals shall be accompanied by a valid import licence issued by the State Veterinary Authority Sarawak permitting the import of such animals into Sarawak, Malaysia.

2.Description of Animal and identification
a.Microchip of cat or dog
Dogs and cats must be identified by a microchip that can be read by an Avid�, Trovan�, Destron� or other ISO compatible reader.

b. The health certificate, vaccination certificate and related document must bear the identification code of the microchip that has been implanted.

c. The vaccination certificate also bears the details (name of veterinarian, name and address of veterinary practice).

3.Veterinary Certification
The consignment of animals shall be accompanied by the following documents:
A certificate from the competent Government Veterinary Officer, certifying that:

a. the animal had been examined (within the seven days immediately preceding the import and found to be free from rabies, Nipah virus infection and any clinical sign of infectious or contagious diseases of dog/cat.

b. the animal had been tested negative for Nipah virus infection

4.Quarantine in Sarawak, Malaysia
Upon arrival the animal shall be placed in quarantine and subject to tests for diseases and antibody status. The period of quarantine shall be according to the following categories:

a.Quarantine period of 180 days: If the last rabies vaccination with killed vaccine was done 12 months before export of the animal(s) and for those with rabies antibodies of less than 0.5 iu/lm.

b. Quarantine period of between 30 days and 180 days: If the last rabies vaccination with killed vaccine was less than 6 months before export and rabies antibodies is more than 0.5 iu/ml.
The exact quarantine period is 180 days minus the number of days from date of last vaccination. The minimum quarantine period is 30 days.

c. Quarantine period of 30 days: If the last rabies vaccination with killed vaccine is less than 12 months but more than 6 months before export and rabies antibodies is more than 0.5 iu/ml.

5. Breeds of dogs not eligible for importation into Sarawak

6. Dogs of the following breeds are not eligible for importation into Sarawak.

7. Pit bull terrier or American pit bull
.1. American Staffordshire Terrier
.2. Staffordshire Terrier
.3. American Bulldog
.4. Japanese tosa (Tosa-Inu, Tosa-Ken)
.5. Atika inu (Japanese Akita, Akita, Great Japanese Dog)
.6. Neapolitan Mastiff
.7. Fila Brazileiro
.8. Dogo Argentino

8. Fee
The following fee is payable for each consignment of dog/cat imported into Malaysia :-
Import Licence : RM 5 per head
Quarantine Fee : RM 3 to RM 5 per day (according to the size of the animal)
Costs related to blood testing: The owner shall be responsible for all cost related for blood testing.

9. Failure to comply with any of the above conditions will result in the animal(s) being detained on arrival and placed under quarantine or re-export at the importer expenses.

10. Amendments
The State Veterinary Authority reserves the right to amend or revise further rules and regulations pertaining to the import of dog or cat into Sarawak, if there are changes in Sarawak�s import policy, or for any other reason, as and when deemed necessary.

i dun know so well about this breed..is it it look like the hush puppies one?i did saw some hush puppies in the pet shop last time,but i am not sure is they call beagle..as i search through some beagle picture online,em..his face look alike, but the puppy's body that i saw is shorter, and their ear is longer..then i think maybe beagle/= hush puupy gua?

conclusion is i dun know lah! Tongue

but i think u can try to ask the pet shop, maybe they know any breeder o they can help u to import.. but if they need to import then better u go pennisular and search for yourself la..so u can see the parents of the puppy too..o maybe u can make advertisment on news paper to search for any owner..

actually kuching have only quite few breed lo..people here prefer rotti and goldie..i really hope more sarawakien join this forum, so that we can exchange more infomation..anyway, if u really bought ur kuching 1st beagle, must inform me ah..i want to see!!! Smile

U can refer any petshop around the city. I personally recommend May's Petshop near Stutong roundabout or Jay Petshop at Sekama road.

your doggie look so cute!what breed is that? u are from which part of sarawak?kuching too? last time i send my YAYA to May pet shop for grooming, but now i try to groom her myself,since she so naughty, dun like that auntie touch her..but my YAYA have only single coat, so i easy to groom for her la..only use scissor cut2 here and there.. Blush

u can try to read through those website teach u how to groom one lo..then just practice more. practice make perfect ma.. Tongue

or when u send ur doggie for grooming, u just stand aside and c people how to groom lo..hehe.. Tongue

hey yarfen!!

you have a cute puppy too!!!!! mine's aussier terrier crossed with possible shit-tzu! and i named her 'sunshine' and she sure shines. ehehehehe i brought her back with me from overseas. had a her groom a couple times over there and didnt really like the result - they put ribbons on her hair which makes her looked more like a tom-boy!!! so in the end, i decided to groom her myself instead. and i'm getting good at it though it still takes me at least 2 hours to groom her!!! i'm really interested in doing a grooming course - one to obtain the certificate and the other reason to brush up my grooming skills - i still dont dare clip the nails cos the nails are dark in color so i cant really see the part where i should stop cutting. so i still send her to the vet to get her nails clip though i dont think the vet is doing a good job of it. i still find the local vet here is more of doing business rather than a pure interest in taking care of the dogs etc. its all about BUSINESS. come on..the vet doesnt even keep records of the dog's visit to the clinic!!

how long u have been back here already? (r u stay in kuching?) i thought sarawak government just lifted the ban of imported doggie..

YaYa nail also black in colour, but i clip her nail myself lo..even i send her for grooming, i dun think they got help me to clip her nail, coz it still look so long after grooming..so at the end, back to myself again.. Frown

first time i clip her nail, i did cut too deep and she bleeding a bit, then she run away. so poor.. Blush

fortunately she still trust me and let me clip nail for her until now..but now i only cut a bit a bit lo..just have to hardworking a bit then 2, 3 days cut a little bit..then should be fine..

ya..after u get the grooming cert., u can help other people grooming their doggie also oh.. Frown

em..maybe next monday i let u know the MAY pet shop number la..if cybersim dun know their number.. i did have their name card at home.

which vet u went for?b4 this i send my YAYA to a vet near tabuan, but think to change her to CITY vet after this. not really very satisfied with that tabuan vet. they din keep the dog visit's record ah..maybe u only send for nail clipping so they din keep the record?

Hi yarfen ! Dun worry my friend German Shepherd very gentle and she don't bite, well trained actually although she just 5 months old.

I also think we should recommend more people to join this forum. Come on where are all the Sarawakian, don't read only ..post something please.

Well I manage to find a beagle pups yesterday ( published at Sin Chew newspaper). Unfortunately the price is pretty steep for the non-registered pups. I think the dog u saw is a Basset Hound (Hush Puppy). I think have to buy at KL lor. The only think I scared is the long qurantine periods. Wish anyone can help here.

yesterday sin chew ah..i didn't realise oh..maybe go back can have a look..em..that pup from kuching? u can call the owner ma, and try to cut price with them lo..why they dun wan to register it?just be careful, sometimes that is not pure breed oh..but if u dun mind then it's ok la..maybe u can call them again few more days later, maybe nobody buy then they will cut the price le.. since buying here the pup dun need quarantine ma..otw, so long time quarantine, who knows what will happen le.. o maybe u can go to visit the place that will be use to quarantine, then u know the condition there.. if condition good then still ok, if not good then better dun import from penninsular la..

did u ask for the price for beagle in penninsular? maybe u should ask first, who knows there maybe more expensive than here.. and somemore need transport fee + quarantibe fee... add up maybe more expensive oh..

yup, the pup i saw is definitely hush puppy..it's call Basset Hound ah..em..now i know.. Blush

Sunshine is a girl but she can be a bit tomboyish at times - very rough and a big bully as well!!!! i think she's turning 3 soon.

that is my purpose in enrolling in the pet grooming courses (if i can find one!) - then i can help the others and give better service compared to the ones available. mine is not business oriented thats for sure!

no..i brought my other dogs in to the clinic - one time was to remove a skin tumor on the nose and another was to check the hing leg as he was walkin with a limp. i dont see any evidence of there being any records of the visits!!!

Envy you can have 3 dogs at one go -- kinda difficult for me if I have 3 dogs I think - susah have to divide my attention to the 3 dogs. Does one dog get jealous of another dog when u pay attention to one more than the other?

Well yarfen I did visited the puppy near 3rd mile motor shop. Very cute, price RM2K++. Actually he have 4 more bro and sis but all sold oredi. Don't think the boss will reduce the price coz very hard to find this kind of breed here. KL sellingn RM1300 - 1500 for MKA registered inc all charges also around RM2K++

Anywhere I visited Vet Dept at Wisma Pelita to enquiry bout dog import from West Msia. Can be done but need a lot of procedure like import, export permit, health certificate, vet contact, quarantine, etc. I also visited the quarantine centre at Sekama. They charge RM90 per month include all food, health care and accomodation. All rooms are equiped wit fan and you can visit ur dog anytime. Minimum quarantine period if 1 month and maximum 6 month. Terms & condition apply. I will tell u all more when I'm free.

sometimes they will jealous lo..but yang yang never jealous la!he just act like a big brother, calm and mature.. dada and yaya will always jealous to each others lo..but yaya like to follow what dada do sometimes..if dada bark at the dog outside, then yaya will just follow.. but mostly she will just sit there and look at her "brother" perform lah! Smile

yang yang and dada both are short coat doggie ma, so i dun need help them brush their coat lo.. easy to take care.. actually i also didn't put much attention on them(yang yang and da da), i seldom play with them lo..only will sayang sayang them la.. they so big ma..and play really rude, always get me injured.. when the time they play until excited la.. yang yang is still ok, at least he will listen when i ask him "no", but da da just kind of dun bother me one, sometimes really " gas die" me.. Crazy

i did ask the May pet shop owner, she said the beagle owner seem like the only one who have beagle in kuching, and they import their beagle.. that's y it is so expensive. but since they are the only one who have beagle, so those buyer hard to breed the dog lo..em..u plan to buy female o male beagle?

last sunday i went to May pet shop..wah!!they have just import a pair of MS(miniature snauzher(dun know how to spell Tongue

)) from Australia(they say import from australia dun need quarantine oh)..they are soooo cute!!!!they are 5(female) and 6(male) months now.. they are not for sell one lo..they will be keep and breed gua... this is the 1st MS i saw in kuching.. i like it so much!!! it's good if those pet shop owner can import more variety of doggie, so that kuching will have more breed of dog!! so after u have import ur beagle, do update ur procedure here oh..so that we can have a guardline if next time we want to import doggie too.. Wink

I just bought another bag for carrying him -- one that has a lobang on one end where he can stick his head out ....... pretty nice but may be a bit warm ...... for him

hehe..when yang yang n da da still puppy time, i did bring them go to jalan jalan la..but now they so big already, so... only bring them walk walk lo..cannot travel in car already..

now only can bring yaya jalan jalan la.. but she getting fat already..my bf always say she heavy than a stone..haha.. but it is still ok for me..

ur boy like to stay in a bag ah?? so good.. my yaya just dun wan stay in any bag... she just always wan to jump out... Pirate

here hard to find nice bag to carry doggie.. last time i saw one at a pet shop.. but look not nice le..

i heard some member in this forum say that Ikano is not really a very dog friendly place le.. did u face any problem when u brought ur boy there?

wow..so many people bring dog from outside sarawak ah? anyway, have u found ur favourite beagle already? if so, too bad have to wait la... if not yet, then u still can search slowly lo.. y need 6 months so long ah? all the doggie there have to quarantine 6 months ah?maybe some of them only need to quarantine 1 month ma..then got space lo...o can u make researvation 1st? how many space there actually?

Oh ya forget to inform u all about the quarantine rules. Quarantine is 1 to 6 months depends on your dog antibody. In order to get 1 month quarantine the dog antibody must be > 0.5. Blood test for antibody level need to be sent to Thailand and owner need to pay USD50 for the test. Normally dog need to be at least 6 months old to reach 0.5 antibody level. So if ur puppy is less than 6 months old , u can forget about taking the test coz sure failed. That's why most puppy need 6 months quarantine. Adult dog owner can also opt not to take the test and left the dog there for 6 months. I visited the quarantine centre at Sekama not long ago. The environment not bad, each room is equipted with fan, 1 dog 1 room but room available are limited.

Now I was informed the quarantine centre is full of dog from West Msia and other country. So dissapointed they don't have proper queue system. No hope for my beagle. Unsure

maybe because they just lifted the ban rule, so many people wan to bring doggie from outside gua... try to ask how much a beagle will cost from those dun need quarantine country lo... if the price reasonable, just get from there la...

Btw, want to let u all know that, Sarawak Kernel Assocation (SKA) members held a gathering every Sunday 6pm at the park beside the Jalan Song Methodist Church. You will see a lots of cute dog and helpful owner there.

hi....im so happy to heard that puppy from pennisular can enter to sarawak.im from kuching,sarawak but working at kl.i had a puppy(min pin) at kl .few mnth ago,when i heard that puppy from penniuslar malaysia cant enter sarawak,im very sad and frustated because im working at kl and contract will be finish next year.so scared that i will leave my puppy at penisular.now,im really happy to heard that news.At least the sarawak government had reconsider to allow the puppy from kl.who should i contact if i want to migrain my puppy from kl to kuching?can u give me the contact number so that i can made some arrangement?

How old is your puppy ? If your dog is more than 6 months and the antibody level > 0.5 maybe they only quarantine your dog for 1 month lor. First u have to apply import permit from Swak Vet Dept, Wisma Pelita 12 Floor. Pay RM5 and get your permit within 2 working days. On your side (West Msia) you required several documents like export permit, health certificate, vet certification, etc (pls refer previous posting). What's the breed of your dog?

Went to Ikano pet paradise last Tuesday - alot of new puppies - and there are many nice doggy bags too. I bought dog food plus a couple of toys for dogs. The people in pet paradise are okay - friendly and helpful. They told me that outside pet paradise it is better to put doggy in doggy bag or carry them and better not to put on leash to walk around....

I had lunch at Red Herring (at Ikano) - they welcome Boy George -- in fact they do not mind small dogs in the restaurant -- so I had a swell time.

Ya I went there too, left around 6.15pm. Saw a couple wif a dog like urs. Maybe it's u...hehehe. Anywhere my fren told me tat day not many dog there coz a little raining.

my yaya very proud one la.. she response to people depend on her mood one.. sometimes even i call her she also dun look at me.. gas die! Pirate

she always gives a lot of kisses to guy, even my friend(guy) who she just know in 1st day.. but then she just ignore the girl..

she treat me also the same le.. she always kiss my bf whenever my bf sit down, at the height that she can reach..then if i wan her to kiss me, i have to put my face to her..so unfair.. Frown

and sometimes she will even turn her face aside... Frown

i saw one duno chi hua hua cross o min pin cross around the crown square there.. if u have fren who interested to adopt it, u can ask them to find there..

the dog is without colar one, and playing with those stray dog there.. i m not sure got any people feeding him(i think is male) o not, but i went there 2 days, he also appear..

he is light brown in color, and quite small.. i think around 3kg maybe.. even small than my yaya.. his face is look like chi hua hua o min pin, but his tall quite long n curly..his coat is not short, but also not so long..

he is around a restaurant call "xun wei" opposite to the crown square there.. if u r interested, u can go and have a look too..

My ofis is at that area too and I also went to "Xun Wei" for lunch few times but I never saw the dog there lei. Maybe those who saw it can help to send the puppy to SPCA.

yup, when i went there for lunch, i never saw him there la, but if went for dinner, then yes.. but now the "xun wei" is under construction, so i didn't went for dinner there already. but i did went there sometimes in the afternoon, didn't see him again.. duno is it got somebody adopt him or maybe got people sent him to spca already.. but i will go that place again recently, if i saw him, will bring him to spca la..

haha..the food there quite nice ma.. no.. i stay in samarahan.. near unimas ma, easier for me to go in campus.. but i almost everyday go out kuching eat la.. Tongue

xun wei is one of my favourite place..

i went there quite often now is because my bf take his convocation photo at the amaze galary which is above the xun wei la..

em.. have to inform u that...actually that dog which i mention is own by the happy valley shop owner.. Blush

and some of the stray dog there also owned by them.. hehe..fortunately i didn't catch him back..haha.. but they did really let him play with those stray dog and without any collar.. this is told by the amaze galary staff..

hello, long time didn't come to puppy.com already. :) u got ur beagle already? i did saw beagle in the pet shop in kuching oh... and also MS too.. as for the Siberian husky, so far not yet le..

also long time i didn't bring my dog to go to the gathering at jalan song there already, still any gathering there? but now i bring my dog to go to the taman sahabat at jalan song there la... hehe... my yaya love to go there a lots.. :) sometimes i saw some people bring their dog there too.. nice place. :)

my bf bought a new silky terrier, very cute but very naughty too.. now i paper train her, she learn so slow.. :(
