Re: [luckey] Agility Party [In reply to] Can't Post

hi,

Although the venue is not finalized, I would like to propose to meet @ on the 30/Nov or 1/Dec.

I feel this timing is just right as it's still 'Puasa' month , probably there'll be less people in the park. Also, it should give those doggies take part in the show in Melaka (17/Nov) some good rest before the gathering. 7/Dec & 8/Dec may not be ideal as some of us might be planning for their Raya holidays.

What do u say?

Smile

CD Moo

Excellent! But we still have no venue Unsure... what about the place where you guys had the first puppy.com gethering?

Is that the place that everyone was saying is actually non-dog-friendly?

If that place is OK, maybe we go with that venue?

How about fixing the venue suggested by CDMoo is Kemuning as site for the Agility Meet.

The next thing to decide is the time for the meet on Nov 30.

Re: [Khoobg] Agility Party [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi all,

I propose we start off early in the morning due to the current rainy weather condition esp in the afternoons/evenings. So let's say we start off at 0900H and keep this 1st session short for 2hrs so we can disband before it gets too warm. This way the grass would still be relatively dry, providing the traction required for all that running and jumping involved.

Activities wise, let's keep it fun and simple. May I humbly propose the following:

Jumping, weave poles, tunnel..These should not pose too big an obstacle which might take away the "fun" factor! To keep things interesting, maybe we can start off with a short 10-15min talk on the sport of agility, a demo, timed trials for individual handler/dog classified by small/medium/large breeds and finally a team event along the lines of flyball but without the ball, just plain jumping thru hurdles. This list is not final, I would love to see the Goldies/Labbies do their fetch! Smile And who knows, someone might just send their water babies swimming in the nearby lake! Take it away people!Sly

Re: [arthur] Agility Party [In reply to] Can't Post

Arthur, i LURRVE your idea! Sounds irresistable already! I will bring Juno, though I wish lil' Luckey was old enough.

Can you do the short talk / explanation on the sport of agility?

Should we also sort out who will bring what equipment?

I can defintiely provide:
- 4 colored poles (look like horse jumping poles, so will look good for the photos if anyone's taking)
- 2 sets of wings
(together these can make 2 jumps)

We can see what else everyone can bring along and I will chip in more on the equipment if needed. I hear you can get tunnels suitable for dog use at Toys R Us and other toystores... I haven't gone to have a look yet, but planning to.

Who can do weave poles?

Should we also compile a list of all dogs confirmed attending and breed so can do some planning in advance on classes and team event?

Re: [luckey] Agility Party [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Luckey,

Things are heating up!Smile

I am hardly qualified to talk about the sport of agility. Let's see who can volunteer! In the meantime, I can do my part by searching out more info on this exciting sport and posting it up later.

Meanwhile, I reckon we would need at least 8 jumps. This can be set up in a simple course for the individual event and later rearranged into two columns of 4 jumps each for the team event. As for the tunnel, we need at least 1. If we can get one low table, this would be great. Weave poles can be simple or complicated. Simple approach would be to simply hammer in 4 sticks in a straight line. Sly Or we have to look for a proper holder. Me thinks we keep it simple and go for the 1st approach.

Before we proceed any further, for the record, let's make it real clear to all that are reading this thread that this event is STRICTLY for the fun of it. No formal agility training or instruction is involved. This is just a realisation of a good idea to have some fun with our furkids. Plain and simple. Please keep this in mind folks (especially for MKA members)

Hi Khoo,

Sure, I will provide the necessary info. later. (after 24/Nov) as I need to travel overseas next week and may not access the Forum that frequently. As a matter of fact, I have the perfect view of the proposed venue , but it's a Macromedia Flash. Khoo, I will need ur help in this to upload it. If technically can not be done, shall I review the URL and instructions to get to it??

Just came back from the lake side (10 a.m) and there's nobody there. Yes, there's a big piece of flat land, 100 ft. from the lake side which can accommodate ...about 100 dogs! There's a smaller piece nearer to the lake, a bit sloppy towards the lake. And it will be a challenge to do agility there! There's 2 rows of talk palm trees which are quite shaddy, and a little 'hut' like resting area. (where we put our food/drink)

Also, I would like to suggest the Winners of the forthcoming MKA show in Melaka to contribute something.. (food, drink etc..) Wink .. so, Khoo, Arthur, Luckey, Lim, Mackay ..pls take note!! Sly

(Remember our Tmn Rimba gathering? It's due to the Selayang/S'gor MKA show that brought us together!)

Sounds good? Looking forward to this!

Smile
regards,

CD Moo

Re: [arthur] Agility Party [In reply to] Can't Post

Yes things are coming together, I took Juno over some jumps today and she is really starting to enjoy it! Wink

So: equipment-wise: Who wants to volunteer to bring what?

I will try check out the TUNNEL sometime over the weekend, but anyone else who wants to can do so also.

The easiest for me is to bring more POLES if we need more jumps, but i don't have very tall wings, (coz my dogs only small!) so those bringing big dogs may want to bring some taller wings if they want to jump a bit higher.

Arthur, you want to do the weave poles?

hi Luckey,

Can we have those PVC pipe to be the pole? Then what we need to is to use bricks to level it up. The dogs will not feel pain even they hit on it..
