eh... u know ar... tap water is not healthy lar... try filtering the water and look at the filter... my goodness... the dirty yellow colour!
give ur danes filtered or boiled water lar... i suppose u also dun drink tap water mar, rite? filtered and boiled water is not that difficult to "prepare"... just a thought...

i dun think only SJ gets teh tarik water... but all areas lar... i cant believe how dirty the water filter is after only one day installed... and to think of how much unfiltered water i drank before installing the filter! yucks!

yeah lor.. dunno why is the water like "teh tarik" when we have the natural resources/equipment/humans maintaining it ..wondering if they did it on purpose so the "water" market (filter/diamond/etc) have more businesses...hmmm...
Anyways, we feed our furkids reverse osmosis water.. (those in big plastic "tongs") or boiled filtered tap water...
haha... nah... dun think they are trying to boost up the sales of water filters... but just that the water treating system here not up to standard yet? i dunno...

I give Ladee Filtered water ... when I brought her from the breeder she told me that she gave all the puppies filtered water so I just go along with the norm... and it is true water in M'sia is not so clean (Teh Tarik)... and now Ladee is stuck to only the water she gets at home... every time I bring her for outing, have to bring own suply coz she do not take other water of any source...
eh but seriously... i'm really wondering if anyone actually give their dogs premium water... like evian, perrier! maybe not here, but i know hollywood stars do that... some even bathe with evian...!

I don't know how much mud and muck I drank for the first 2 years I stayed in SJ... Even with the filters (I have 2 in the house), the water sometimes is sooo dirty that I still get some remnant of "teh-o" from the tap...

Hehehe....
It depends... I think in SJ esp in SS14, we encountered alot of burst water pipes last time... So, plenty of teh-tarik water for all.... Not too sure about other parts of SJ tho...
RO water is like battery water/distilled water...no minerals left in it. Some call it 'dead water'. Actually recent studies have shown that ppl who take RO water on the long run suffer from more decay of the teeth due to the lack of flouride found in normal water. And apparently the lack of minerals in the water makes the water totally non beneficial for us.
the teh tarik colour is the sediments and most of the time, rust. Water found at the treatment plant is very very clean...up to about 99% clean. But the problem is not with the water treatment plants & pumping stations...problem is most of the pipes that carry the water to our hse is rusty...thus the 'teh o' water we get. Sometimes in the morning when u turn on the tap u can actually smell the rust.
Boiling water won't help. You can only remove chlorine from water if you boil....and that's if leave at boiling point for at least 20 mins (by that time all water also evaporate liao...hehehe).
So if don't filter properly, you can leave your boiled water in a mineral water for a few days. You'll find sediments at the bottom after a few days

Found this from a website... worth a read... and i welcome comments...
"Two things contribute to tartar on the teeth and to gum disease: 1. Quality of food and 2. Type of water provided. Foods containing non-organic, low quality sources of meat, sugary ingredients and high carbs contribute to dental disease. Drinking distilled water will help prevent tartar or calcium build up on a dog's teeth and under the gum line thus reducing the incidence of tooth loss and gingivitis. Chlorine, Chloramine and other chemicals used to treat city water can cause severe allergic reactions in pets. Any pet with allergy symptoms such as itching, dandruff or hair loss, should always drink distilled water exclusively. Pugs with breathing problems should never drink tap water due to their high incidence of allergies and their crowded teeth. - Per a visit I had with Dr. Robert Wiggs, Dallas, Texas - The leading dental vet in the country, plus an officer and one of six Diplomates teaching for the American Veterinary Dental College"

hmm..useful information.. and yes, our furkids' skin improved since fed on distilled water..and also found out that their teeth are also not so "yellowish"...
aiyoh...so serious problemkah? just wondering in long run will the rust harm our health?
is the problem still persisting till now? sorry but i don't really read the papers....hope that things r getting better now. then what do u all always do in order 2 get clean n rust free water?
hey thanks for the feedback on ur good experience on distilled water... how long have u been giving ur dogs that and where do u get the distilled water from?

ionised water is something similar to alkaline pH water and it contains more oxygen. RO water is not good coz it flush out all the nutrients frm our body, it's basically mend for ppl with diabetes etc, this is my 2 cents anyway .
yes, unfortunately the problem persists. I used to work in an Engineering company that builds water treatment plants so that's why i know of the conditions there.
My family invested on a water treatment system that uses activated compressed carbon and UV light. filters sediments, kills viruses and bacterias but maintains all natural minerals.
From my understanding, distilled water removes bacteria and viruses and inorganic contaminants but again, most beneficial minerals are removed. Also because it generates high heat, certain chemicals with low boiling point like chloroform can't be removed.
My dad was pretty concerned about getting a system that maintains the minerals cause he did some research and our family dentist told us that he has experienced many tooth decay cases from families who drink RO/distilled water because of the lack of minerals like flouride for our teeth. I think that scared him....hehehehe
