Birth Cert for imported Golden Retriever Puppy Can't Post

Dear all,
I went for labrador and golden puppies hunting and I found quite a few Golden but no labrador. Unsure
I came across this cute Golden Retriever puppy that the seller claimed it was imported from Thailand. He said it's an American breed.
I wonder if an imported puppy should have its birthcert once it was imported? Cuz I was told my the seller that the birthcert will not be available until several months later.. is it nomal? is it the way supposed to be?
He said he will hv to apply something from MKA and ahve hv them approved then only he could issue something and also the microchip that will be injected to the puppy for recogniction.

Can anyone advise me on this?

Re: [laurentia] Birth Cert for imported Golden Retriever Puppy [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi,

Yes, it's a normal procedure to wait 3 - 4 months (maximum) to get the cert from MKA. As for me, my GR born on Feb 2003 and i bought on April 2003 only on end of July 2003 I received the cert! But b careful if after 3/4 months you still haven't received it then you call-up the and check it.

And in the cert is written the the puppy, dam & sire & grand grand from where came from.

Hi Aweric,

Thanks a lot for your reply. May I know where did u get your GR? If it's imported, were u provided some sort of documentation or proof by the kennel before you bought your GR or before the birthcert application? SO that u r more convinced with breed background.

It's really something i'm not familiar with. Actually I put the deposit down on the puppy already.. am now worried if I should pursue getting the puppy...

Re: [nooning] Birth Cert for imported Golden Retriever Puppy [In reply to] Can't Post

hi,

yeah, I put the deposit down.. i was so kiasu.. I went with my brother and another 2 sisters. We are not experienced in those pure breed dogs. We used to have 2 german sheperd out of 14 dogs that we had and the rest of the dogs are all abandoned street dogs. therefore, I'd say we are not experienced in pure breeds and also in dealing with petshops people.

Hmm,I'm considering to have a look in KL, but it can be quite a hassle to go one place to the otehr since i'm not familiar with KL. But I saw many ads on Staronline... very tempting.. maybe i can use my deposit to buy the dog food from the guy.

CoolHi, what i know is... Thailand's GR are bigger but it's a risk to buy them... cozzzzz they can't make sure it's healthy enough to import them..

They might be something change or different after biuying them..Pirate

But, it's still up to you Angelic

Cheers,

I am still waiting for my GR's cert from Thailand. Bought him in March. However, he is a beautiful and healthy dog.

Re: [laurentia] Birth Cert for imported Golden Retriever Puppy [In reply to] Can't Post

hi laurentia,

Thailand is famous for breeding good quality dogs. so i think, no worries there. but of course u have to do a through check that the puppy the guy is trying to sell u is a healthy one.

FYI, what he meant "American Breed" is that the golden that you're about to purchase is the US type, which has a very beautiful darker brown coat color (like the one in Terry's or Mack Mack's avatar - - Terry : is ur Billy US type ar????)

< - - - - - - - -mine is the UK kind....

which is light cream color with shades of brown (and often costs cheaper *i think*).

how much is the petshop owner selling the GR to you? btw, it is definitely normal to receive the birth cert couple of months later. happened to me last time too.

Hi hunter,
I am so glad to hear that. I actually like your GR a lot, not too furry, just moderately nice. And it has nice skull shape. The seller said it's the US type.. bigger in size but the fur color is lighter though, not like , maybe in between your GR's color and Terry's.
what abt urself? Where did u get your GR?
I heard from the sellers tht, darker color is now the trend therefore they sell higher price.

Re: [laurentia] Birth Cert for imported Golden Retriever Puppy [In reply to] Can't Post

hi,

haha, my dog's skull shape is okay only.. he's head is just... how to say...FLAT. and if u see him in "dog" he is actually a little smaller size than normal GRs. i notice that most UK type GRs we have in malaysia have short hair (u know, not the curly long kind we often saw like those US GRs).. mine has only long hair at his chest and a little feathering at his feet.. as for his body hair, it could never grow long like those at his chest :/ his vet said it's all about genes.

this is my first dog, and i got him from a petshop eagerly without studying the breed standard and etc carefully first. i'm really lucky that he's a healthy pup today. i strongly advise that u study throughly the GR puppy u deposited on too, make sure he's healthy and all.

darker color GRs are also hard to get. oh, and i just love the rich dark gold color.

US GR suppose to be in darker color, many are reddish golden. And the coat should not be "curly" and the skull must be BIG enough for good quality GR.

that's why they're so, so beautiful.

u mean not curly? but some of 'em have curly coats.. so u mean they supposed to have straight bulu?

btw, think those really really dark dark brown is sometimes not favourable in breed standard (am not sure how dark though)

I bought Billy "De Duck" from a Subang 19 petshop (not USJ 19 in my earlier post - very bad with direction & address lah) - owner of shop is a lady call Susan (quite well known it seems).

He is a US type so ...consequence is .... HE IS SO BIGGGGGGGGGG NOW.

Hahahahaha ... but I love him the way he is.

He has a beautiful coat. His coat is very nice when I bought him but the Cod Liver he takes everyday makes it even better.

Yeah he does grow up quick. The other day his head was in my sink in an attempt to eat some clams we left in a bowl in the sink !

I cant say its straight or curly. Its curly on the top and straight elsewhere. Check it on the 14th and tell me what you think.

TerrySmile

By the way he is gentle to everyone except meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee !

Are you serious about Billy being rough to me means I am special to him or are you just trying to comfort me ?????

Oh Laurentia .... if you are interested in US type GR from Thailand, I can introduce you to where I got Billy. The only problem is I still have not got the cert as the microchip and the cert and to be sent at the same time to avoid any mistake between the chip no and the no on the cert.
