ya!i also facing this problem, my shitzu like to eat her "PooPoo" . i ask the pet shop B4 they say may be she lack of "Zinc", ask me buy for it!But i ask doctor, he say can't help the puppy! les , u say put same pepper, but u know what i put>> suggestion from doctor> put "chili padi" than she still take it !! I feel pensan to this method!! so got any go idea to prevent she eat her poopoo again?? she eat the poopoo until the face very smelly!! ~~~ AsHLeY ~~~
Try feeding your dog some pineapple....the ppl frm other forums i've seen said when the poo comes out, something about the pineapple in the stool makes it very unappetising for the dogs.

Well the ppl who hv tried didn't hv any problems with the stomach....shih tzu small dog so give a bit ok don't give too much. Mix it together with her food. The best way is still to pick up her poo as soon as she does it so she won't hv the chance to eat it....you must also teach her the NO and Leave It command, as soon as u see her going near her poo, enforce these commands on her.
ya today i will buy the pineapple let her try! She not only eat her own poo but also the other one !! like my puppy n JRT also!!what to do ?? when i no around she will eat other dog poo!! TQ for ur suggestion !!
my silky got this problem too ... took her to the vet and the vet told me that she must have digestion problems and gave us some medicine for her ... after giving her she stops eating her poo-poo already .. sometimes she sniffs it and walk away ...
ha.....i think now not only Shih Tzu become poo-poo eater, ST also join as their group!
anyway, Daren seem not eating his poo-poo, PROVIDED got ppl around! which mean tat he still cant totally stop eating cos i alway found tat he will eat his poo in the midnight!
there is no use to put black pepper or chili sauce.....cos he will not eat it if he smells the bau!! furthermore i have try it but useless! when u din put black pepper or else he cont. his hot food.
the way i stop him eating poo-poo is use rotan to scold him heavily everytime i saw him eating. scold him 3-4 times then no more eating when ppl around him! even he is very kesian when scold by me but i have no choice! just only give him a big treat if he din eating his poo-poo.
Go to the pet shop and get a drinking bottle where you can hang upside down with the nozzle at the bottom, the dog will drink from the nozzle and won't mess up the face so much. I have to wipe my shih tzu's face everytime after she eats and get wet and comb the hair around the face after that...no choice. My Sunnie also eats her poo.... when I am not fast enough to take her away from her poo....Will try out the methods recommended by others here! With warm regards, CY Phang

Sunnie seemed to have stopped this problem for the past two days, after I decided to cook her meals instead of trying all sorts of ways to make her eat her Innova kibbles. She would rather starve than eating the kibbles, even if i mix them with the home cooked food she wont eat the kibbles. For the cooked food, I steamed RM 2 of minced chicken breast, 1 carrot, 3 small potatos, 1/2 stalk of celery and 3 tablespoon of white rice with 3 tablespoon of water...and give her about 2 tablespoon of the food every meal. These two days I noticed she will just leave the poop there and won't pounce on them like before...maybe she was too hungry or lacking or nutrition or something...Just my guess. TQ!! so u every time cook for ur baby loh!!u means u give her eat only 2 tablespoons or mix with the dog food together??if only the food i think my shitzu will eat the poo cos she eat a lot of dog food!! But i will try it !! u steamed all the ingredients n make it small cube ? than the poo will be more smelly?? all the food must finish at one day or can kept it than when wan to give her eat just preheat it??Hope u can give more detail TQ!! ~~~ AsHLeY ~~~
no i cook once every 4 days...I just put the rest in the fridge and when i feed her i just scoop out 2 tbs and steam it...the rest i put back into the fridge. But sunnie is very small size...only 600 gm now so 2 tbspoon is enough for her right now...I didnt make them into cubes...just scoop out and steam...the texture is like mashed potatoes...but I also give her raw stuff such as fruits and also vit supplements so that hopefully may also help a bit. Sometime I mix with the dog food but she doesnt like it, will only eat it when she's really hungry ! The poo doesnt smell at all...its still very solid but color is like carrot hehe...and she pooed even more...like 3 or 4 times a day...right now (touch wood) she hasnt eaten the poop yet lah..but still observing ! halo!yah when we give them eat fresh food they will won't like to eat the dog food anymore !! i will try it hope my shitzu like it! Ur shitzu how old lia? just only 600gm, mine one very big loh!! I think it depends on the brand of the kibbles. Sunnie still likes Bil Jac whenever I give it to her now, despite being fed on fresh food. It's either the Innova kibbles I'm feeding her right now is tasteless...or it contains some ingredients which will deter her from eating it. I forgot the name of the shampoo I am using but it's a herb based shampoo for cats and dogs...am thinking of switching to biogroom later...Sunnie is almost 10 weeks old. With warm regards, CY Phang

I guess I was over confident when I said she stopped eating her poop. Because she ate again yesterday and today, when we weren't looking. If we were observing her she won't eat...Maybe it's not just the nutrition problem, but also the behaviour part...I gave her some Purina Pro Plan kibbles to try yesterday and she loved it and finished every bit...But when I mix a bit of innova kibbles into her cooked food she doesnt want to touch the food at all...Wonder what the heck they put inside innova that really deters her from eating. I think Innova is more to vege, thats why it is not so tasty and didnt smell good to the dog....., you can read on of the post abt Innova somewhere in the forum!
When Kiddi was 3 months old, I bought her Innova but later change it coz very expensive
Ya i agree is all the behaviour !Phang i think u can try to control Sunnie since she still small and u still can trian her! She dog food is tasleless but good for them, u can try to feed her or use some tactic . So u take same time to feed her ( but this will make her more manja loh!!) choice the good nutrition rather than good taste !! ~~~ AsHLeY ~~~
hi cy, nous previous kibbles was eukanuba...i change it to innova cause i belief innova is more premium.....luckily nous enjoy eating innova.......... regards kangser and nous
Hi! My furkids now eat eukanuba, but i find that they not really like this kibbles. Penang i don't thing so got that brand u mention " Innova " is it better than Eukanuba? I been change three brand for my furkids lia, from eagle pack to science diet now i feed than eukanuba , should i change it?? TQ!! ~~~ AsHLeY ~~~
