ok, i've seen the picture. He has short coat right? You've cut it? I really feel bad about not going to the gathering. But at least mushu been to almost all the gatherings they have here. So is not so bad for her to miss one (I assume). Yes i'm in the photo also. You can see me wearing a pink colour t-shirt and i'm holding mushu with me. What kind of skin problem is he having? Ya i think we should hold a gathering for the shih tzu's also. Maybe we can come out for a proposed data & place & see how's the response.

When i drive mushu actually sits quietly on her sit. She will not come near to me. But she likes to sleep on my feet also. Maybe you can get a body leash which is sold outside and it can actually attached to the seat belt. Try to look out for that.

I hope you'll have fun on that day.

Hi,

I'm doing fine. Mushu is ok also. She just had her diarhea few days ago & she's ok now. I brought her to the vet and she told me that is stomach discomfort might be due to unclean water. Mushu is now 2.6kg. So how's mickey? I hope both of you are doing fine. Hope to hear more from you.

yea , there is some similarity in color around the muzzle, head and body. ur 2nd pup?

anyway, i guess u will have ur hands full as mushu is still a baby.

No mushu is my first puppy. At first when i saw the picture i thought it was mushu's brother. Coz she have a brother really looks like her. Yes....is really tiring taking care after her. She's 8 months old today is her birthday.

Jay has two other sisters. just last week her sister got 1st in the best of breed puppy at the Purina SKC dog show. Jay will take part this coming November. Just entering for fun. but his breeder insisted that Jay must take part.

mushu will be a lot of fun... just watch the things mushu does. it is downright silly and at the same time funny and cute.

i had my share of 'not enough sleep' and 'tired'... every 2 r 3 hrs i will have to bring jay to pee/poo at a desingated spot - part of toilet training. my mistake with jay was tht i did not start training him the moment i had him. so my experience is , train him now. when i started training him at 3mths it took a day or two just for him to remember. now at 5mths it took him a mere 10~15 mins and he will remember. i was really surprised at the change.

the other thing i had a prob with jay is is to keep his moustach clean and white. this is really a 2 or 3 times a day chore. u will have to keep at it and even now there r times when i just let go.

anyway have fun...

Yes that the mustache is the most difficult thing to keep. When you go for shows you will be shocked to see how good other people keep the mustache so white. I did try to use the whitener every week but the result is not that good. A little improvement only i can say. She likes to fight with the pug which belongs to my housemates. Therefore the saliva and everything kind off ruin my efforts.

When is the Purina show again? In november? Where issit being held?

Have you posted any picture of Jay recently? I wish too see how he looks like now.

gave wrong info abt dog show - it will be held on 14 Dec the AKU Championship Dog Show - venue and judges not confirmed yet but it will be in sg.

wrt the beard, his breeder and a groomer told me 2 use boric acid and cornflour ratio 1:2 to clean and brighten it. i have been using this on jay the past few days and it does work but it is hard work. i use it on him 2 to 3 times a day.

no recent photo yet - my digicam went dead.

Oh the december show....issit at penang? Because i heard that there'll be a show at penang in december. mmm....boric acid.....i think i'll try to use that also. But u're using it for 2-3 times a day? How do u clean it? After u wet the mustache, will u blow dry it again? Then it'll be a lot of effort. How long's is jay's fur now? Issit long enough until it touches the ground? Mushu's one still left 10cm more to touch the ground.

first dry the area around his muzzle and his beard. apply the mixture with a tooth brush or with ur fingers and rub it into his beard as much as u can. alot will just fall off when u applied it so be prepared with a towel below or do it in the bathrm. brush off the excess with a steel comb. let it the mixture do its work. i usually do it when its abt time when he naps. the last is always difficult becos if he sleeps when u sleep and if it is abt 10,11 or 12 u will really feel it...

it is really getting to be a routine 4 me. i get up at 5:30am bring him out to pee, brush his underside coat. at 6:00~6:15am feed him. after the feed, i clean his eyes and apply eye drops. next clean his ears and pluck out hair fm his ear canal. next brush and comb him. next rub the boric/cornflour to his beard. next to let him poo with is almost immediately after all the grooming. give him one biscuit. by then it is 7:15~7:30am. everyday i will reinforce the commands and tricks he has learnt and also introduce new tricks or command. (so far he has managed to do abt 20 commands and tricks).all these i do 7 days a week.. i do hope i can last...CrazyCrazyCrazy

was i treated like that when i was a kid???Mad

anyway, as long as he enjoys it and is happy, i am happy.

Wow u really do put a lot of effort in jay. I can say that. But where can u buy the boric acid? They will not swallow it in? What if they really swallow it in, what will happen? Mushu can only know less than 10 commands & tricks. But she's quite obidient. Luckily she's paper train if not i cannot stand waking up early in the morning just to do the chores. Any special tricks that you can share with me so i can teach mushu?

u can try getting it from pharmacy, hardware stores selling pesticides. boric acid is also a good ant, crocroach, fleas, lices, termites n insects killer. generally safe to human and animals. see attached. that is what i found out abt boric acid. it was given to me by jay's breeder.

well, a neat trick - have ur pup's fav toy and give it a name e.g red ball, ducky, green bone any name u like. hold its fav toy just in front of him and wait till he makes a move to sniff it or lick it or mouth it. then quickly praise him ur way and treat. do this until ur r sure he is doing it consistently - usually abt 20x. rest for 5 mins then do it again. but this time anitcipate when he he will go for it and cue it, i.e say reb ball, ducky, etc. then treat. rest 5 mins then see if he can do it on cue. when he is done with that take one or two other toys put them in a row in fornt of him and say red ball, ducky, etc and see if he will go for his fav.toy by name. once he can do it consistently, the next step will be 2 teach him to find it.

mix one part boric to 2 parts cornstarch and apply it in powder form. u need to dry the beard or else the cornflour will make the hair starchy as in coating chicken and meat in cornflour.

use it like powder with ur fingers or a toothbrush.
