hmm better not chance it esp now that ur pregnant... being 4 months is still in ur critical stage rite ? better be safe la.... if not ur hubby sure kill me lor.
Lightning is 4 yrs old, her parents is directly imported by the owner and her pups won best puppy in group before and she is now a retired....
well, she is really adorable, affectionate and her tail got to me coz it can't stop wagging at all ! I think of all the ECS that I have known (not that I have seen THAT much but enough) to say that she has the BEST temprement of a cocker and infact there is a lot of ppl who commented that she got very extremely good temprement compare to some which is really really snappy type. Those who have seen her was really surprise too.
The only thing abt her is her smelly breath ! goodness, trying all sort of things to see if I can clear that up or not. Any suggestions ? for the minpin - sad to say, they are too big in size for me to bring either one for show. They look more like a barrel than a minpin dog nowdays. bring them for show - embarassed them only !
cheers, minglmy

Sounds like you got yourself a really cool specimen of a cocker. Hey you could even take her for the veteran classes. BTW which show home was she from before? (Who used to show her, or was she never shown?)
I think show quality cockers are generally bred with good temperaments, but a lot of cockers in this country have lost some of that good naturedness, perhaps due to popularity of the breed hence less careful breeding. But I also read that golden cockers in particular have a tendency towards rage syndrome, and the parti colored and roans are better tempered.
Hmm... smelly breath... had a friend who had a dog with bad breath once, I think they have a name for that condition, but sorry dunno how to cure.
thanks ! lightning will no longer be shown .... coz the original breeders feels that he prefer to just let her retire as she is 'old' and have been a good girl given birth to a few litters which produces good quality pups previously and to him that's enough.
you are right abt the breeding part in malaysia... most of the cockers I have seen have a little bit of the rage syndrome. I know that there is those responsible breeders out there trying to make a difference but I guess once the damage has been done, its hard to turn it back. as for blue roan - its pretty rare in m'sia still ( i think... coz i have yet to really heard or seen another blue roan other than lightning's pup previously) and her even temper cud be coz she is the 1st generation of imported breed dog.
How's ur 2 furkids doing ? anymore new photos of them lately ? Btw, how big in size is ur ECS ? lightning seems to be a bit small compare to lots of other ECS that i have seen....(wondering if that's the correct size- LOL !)
as for the smelly breath, i hope can get rid of it la... nowdays trying to give her some biscuit treats and garlic to see if it makes any difference or not.
I know there is a nice blue roan on the show circuit belonging to Irene and she has a beautiful temperament too - she was imported from the UK.
Anyway, your cocker's probably the right size, because I thought Luckey was small (she was by far the smallest of her litter when grown up) but when I took her to show, she was a tad too tall for the ideal breed standard. My mum's cocker Jupey is like a whole other breed! He LOOKS like a cocker but like twice the size or something! A lot of the cockers I;'ve seen at obedience training are I think bigger than they ought to be.
Lightning is from Irene's side of the family . Her cert is still with my friend (who is the breeder) so have yet to have the chance to see lightning's linage...
Lightning is about the size of a ACS.... (i think) haven't really have the chance to measure her -yet-
ahh ic.... but i dun think i will be going down to PD though... what a pity then for me to miss seeing ur 2 ! oh well, there is next time ya ! good luck and enjoy yourself !
I'm actually looking to find a mate for Goopie. I don't know if this is the place to ask so pls forgive me if I've violated a rule. An ECS stud with a roan or black coat.
Goopie holds a MKA certificate. I was told by the breeder that she had a champion parent somewhere up the line.
Thanks for all the heads-up information. Shows clearly that I'm an amateur! Ha ha ha. I will certainly take a look at her birth certificate.
I'm breeding Goopie not because she's a descendent of a champion but because she is really pretty and I want to have her puppy. In addition, I already have a colleague and a relative who wanted a cocker spaniel after seeing Goopie.
