Hello and welcome to our American Bully thread. We are a group of American Bully enthusiast starting out with few American Bully owners and ended up having more pet lovers coming into this breed. First of all, we are here to educate on what's the difference between an American Pitbull Terrier and the all-new American Bully.

The American Bully was a new breed to America, which comprise of an American Pitbull Terrier and a Steffardshire Terrier. Both have different in character. Especially on the aggresiveness of both breeds. APBT has been known for its Fight-To-The-Death character, why? Its been breed for one main purpose, that is to fight like a warrior and that will be the US Marine Corp since during the old civil war in the 16th century. Yes, believe it or not APBT was created by them in order to have a dog build for its ability to fight in the war. Thus why the APBT has such aggressive behaviour not only to unknown human but even to its owner. Due to the severity of the dogs behaviour, it is known to be a ban breed in many country.

On the other side, the American Staffordshire Terrier is known for its courageous, tenacious, friendly, extremely attentive, and extraordinarily devoted. An Amstaff with cropped earsBred to be extremely friendly towards humans, American Staffordshire Terriers are not natural guard dogs. An overly protective and/or aggressive behavior, accompanied by fearlessness, is generally a bad sign. These dogs are good with children and owners, can sometimes get along with other dogs, cats and any other animal if raised properly and introduced through puppy years. They can be aggressive if not socialized properly.These dogs learn quickly from the subtlest of our behaviors. They are thus not only highly responsive during training, but also pick up good habits, such as house training. This can become a problem when an owner unknowingly allows the dog to pick up bad behaviors. A typical training regimen should begin at 8 to 10 weeks of age. It has been proven that Positive Reinforcement Training works very well with this breed. For reading on the subject The American Staffordshire Terrier is a loyal companion dog. He also requires a very large amount of time for rough, or hard working play. Weight pulling, and agility training are what he favors most. He likes to run, but with a proper harness, he loves to pull a skateboard or rollerblading kid. A pull rope hung from a tree encourages self motivating play, but AmStaff type breed really wants to enjoy playtime with you and the kids.

That's where the American Bully started, where a breeder in the US started to breed this two different breed into one. To avoid the breed ban and to create a better temperament dog and so to create a positive image to other pet lovers, media and law makers.

I make to know that American Bully's appearance are alot different compare to Pit Bull and AmStaff. AmBully are suppose to be shorter and wider chest like OMGPuppy's puppy from his avatar. More like Staffordshire Terrier in body shape.

From the pictures that you have posted. it seems more to me like AmStaff? Do clarify me for any misinterpretation. Thanks Laugh

i am also a bit confuse if its actually a BULLy breed...but being a pitbull breed that's for sure I guess hahaha..

BULLY wise some say yes some say no...depending on which dog u r comparing to...anyways since there is no official BULLY society to cetify my dog...i can only compare with wat I see from OMG posted thai website.....or is there any clear standards for apbt vs ast vs Bully ??

my dog is currently spotting a lot of front n rear body n leg muscles....maybe should snap a few more photos for validation hehe

well coming to this part of the forum, I was hoping to gain more ideas or meet more knowledgeable pitbull owners....however now i am having second thoughts after reviewing so much of the drama in other threads....i guess its not the animal we are talking about in here...its more like owners egoistic talking abt what n exactly who own the best......

Until there is a certain official society dat is available around in the region or Malaysia that can provide certification of pitbull BULLY breed...(which I highly doubt so, since the whole term pitbull has been baned I guess)
so who and based on what to say mine is NOT 1 ?? just because it doesnt resemble those big fat frog looking ass of some ?

as for the gathering...yeah i agreed...in as much as I would like to come and meet up with other intellectuals and owners of pitbull bloodlines...I am also a bit sceptical with kids running around....especially those brats that start calling others 3 / 80 yr old..anybody to make sure dat such kids come with their parents ? best to see pitbulls parading in style...but it will be certainly to see some self pronounced "ceritified kid" is on his parents leash lest to step on others and start accusing others to be sensitive

Rachel, the American Bully is not an officially registered breed. Its not under UKC too. APBT is under UKC because it is a pure breed. Indeed the American Bullies is from the pitbull family but it is also from the amstaff breed as well. For more info, look up on one of my post on how the breed was created. It was by breeding both Amstaff and APBT together. To be frank, American Bullies are still under APBT category in the UKC registry. That is why, the solution to this issue is to create a club which the American did, called the ABKC (American Bully Kennel Club) and yes, each American Bully which is bred in the US has a paper if the breeder/owner wants it. Forget us ASians, very few has it and its costly as it is only made in the US. FUrthermore there's issue of them having to post it here.

But due to the aggresiveness of APBT and the ban that has been put on the APBT breed in the US. A breeder came up with this breed which is more temperamental. Beware though, certain bloodlines still has the aggresiveness of the APBT. Compare to the size of Amstaff and APBT to American bullies. Both are consider fitter than the American bullies. The American Bullies is bred for its looks. Compare to APBT and Amstaff, both of this breeds are so much more superios than American Bullies in terms of fitness and purposes. But the American Bullies inherit their genes. Not 100% of it but there is some of it. One of its similar charateristic to APBT and Amstaff, is they're able to withstand a huge amount of pain compare to other dogs. Plus their hyper-active character given the view that its a FAT dog. And yes AMerican Bullies are mainly bred for their looks, which mean the SIZE and their HEAD. its mainly a lifestyle dog.

Rachel, since you've checked out Iputbull, I believe you've seen what is the difference between APBT, Amstaff and an American Bully. Remember, the paper is there only to proof its bloodline. The breed is still neither APBT or Amstaff. Its just a must under UKC protocol. I've gone trough the UKC website myself. There's a revise version for the APBT registry. That should be the one for American bullies since there are no other choice but like i say again. American Bullies is still a breed which is not registered under UKC, but we know when we see one.

Just read finish your post. Sorry but I've no intention at all of insulting you and your dogs. Furthermore, there's no benefit for me. Remember Rachel, as long as you love your dogs. Every Bully breed is called a Bully. Its just not appropriate to associate the American Bully with an APBT. Click on the youtube I send for the first few replies for short introduction of the American Bully breed. Don't worry, even if Murdoc is APBT. We've to thank Murdoc for its bloodline, or else we wouldn't have an American Bully at all.

One more thing, we're involve in Thai American Bully Society its because they're the biggest player in Asia. Yes, biggest, not China, not Japan. Thailand. It is from there we educate ourselve and than passing it down to the Malaysian, oh believe me, there's alot of up and downs. Furthermore, these are from America and we did our research from the US too. Don't worry, we are all dog owners ourselve and to be frank, my first dog ain't a Bully. Its a Silky Terrier and my Silky is still alive.

I have been a fan of the AmStaff and APBT for some time now. Unfortunately I do not have the time of space to own one...for now...

Anyway, I was wondering, if this observation is right? I'm getting abit confused.

From my uunderstanding of your post, the American Bully is a cross btw, the AmStaff and APBT right? And there is no conformation standard set yet.

But from alot of ads and the Thai magazines/websites that I've seen, it seems like the American Bully is a breed which more compact,heavier set with a wider head and with shorter muzzle. And hopefully, no offence, they look look like they've added English Bulldog in the mix.

BUT, from your pics, the American Bully simply looks like a cross btwn AmStaff and APBT. Where the breed still maintains its athleticity.

Is this heavy set, short muzzled American Bully still capable of scaling 6ft walls and climbing trees?

I particularly admire the tenacity,drive and athleticity of the pitbulls. For me, that is important as I would like to train one in future for SchH. I like the "type" of Amercian Bullies in your pictures but I've noticed alot of American Bullies which look like they have English Bull Dog blood. (Not saying that they do, but some have real short muzzles Crazy

)

Can someone help me understand further what is an American Bully?

yo kev... its been long and i've been away so long... suddenly there's bully... anyway guys, to me, its not about how big. how heavy or how nice the dog looks, it's how it performs... juz my 1/2 cents... this is "patch"... he's now in a friend's factory... he has no pedigree and not proven but he killed a snake that tried to attack me...

yo kev, sad to say i've none with me now... some incidents happened and gotta give them away to friends place... jeep attacked a neighbour's dog, neighbour wasn't so pleased even after we brought the dog to the vet and cover all expenses, so gave it to a friend in ipoh, bonnie fought with patch, so gave it to a friend in melaka and finally patch killed a stray and put him in a friend's factory... will consider selecting another but not so soon... maybe patch's litter. i like his temperament and drive... my # is now 016-2254666...

Your dog is an original APBT right. Or Amstaff, either one.

Because your dog really is aggresive, being all that killing and all. I mean, American bully do come from Amstaff and APBT but we are kicking that habit of aggression out. We are not breeding fighting dogs, although the American Bully does have its blood line from a fighting dog. But we of course, know that Pits are bred to guard and fight. Too bad is that sometimes, their uncontrollable and dangerous.

That's the reason why American Bully is streamlined in America compare to the previous APBT where they heavily bred it for fights and games. But because of the law which had ban the breed (Unless you've the license to own one). American Bully is breed to curb that ban and of course to attract a positive view on this breed. But anyway, no offence, that's your opinion. Just trying to explain what's all this breed is all about. Though we have some mix which still has the agression in them but to us American Bully we are not involve in any fighting dogs. Period.
