i got simple criteria for my the dog i prefer only:

(1) look nice (stalkier, not too thin like vege dog like OMgpuppy said, oso not too broad shoulder, n shorter) moderation is prefered In term of size from smaller to bigger (generally) : Staffordshire Bull terrier, Bully(Staffi), American Pitbull terrier(APBT), American Satffordshire Terrier (Amstaf). however there are oversize APBT over 70 pd.
(2) not too dog agressive (later kill other ppls dog not good lah when go out exercise) All are dog agreesive, but with proper training like my Shiki, can get alone with any other dogs. With APBT the most.

(3) at least abit of guarding or watch dog instinct (or else later intruder come in it oso threat them like fren then habis lah...) No problem, My ZEUS do it quite well as wash dog. some more his appearance deters ppl.

(4) not too pain sensitive (accidentally step on its tail oso shout like crazy )
They are generally known to be pain tolerance, even you accidentaly step on their tail, they will not bite the owner. Off cause they exception-regarding biting.
(5) friendly and loyal to owner Their loyalty to the owner is unconditional and unquestionable. They just alway want to please you. Poison you kow kow
