fawn,

As a games committee member , I noted your comments and will relay your comment to the games committees.

nairud,

As I recall, in all the Sit Stay competition organise by us, we have not stop the games before we have a champion.
In the extreme case where we have 2 dog with very good sit, we will resort to measure such as asking the owner to be out of sight and tempting the dog with toys and food. In a longest sit stay competition, we will even look for small movement where the dog break his sit stay.
Some dog do adjust themselve when them are sitting for a long time. This slightest adjustment where the "buttock leave the floor" will also be judge as breaking a sit stay.

Again, I noted your comment and will relay them to the games comittees too.

General public,

Let me clarify something here for the knowledge of the general public.
1) Games comittee are just volunteer that help puppy.com.my to run the event.
We are doing it so that dog lover like you and me have an event where we can socialise our dog and have fun at the same time.
(That was in the past, nowaday some games committee doesnt even bring their dog to the event anymore because we are so busy in running the games that we have no time to have fun with our dog during the event)

2) Do you notice that non of the games committee participated in any of the games?
During the early days of event by puppy.com.my, we the games committee can have fun
like you and everyone else by joining the games ourself, but we got complain that we "fixed"
games so that "our dog" can win. For the last few event, the games committee have been banned
from joining any of the game. Only in the extreme case where there is no or very few participant in
a game will the games committee actually join the game to make up the number.
I dont think other dog event have this rules cause I seen most games in other dog event being
dominated by the organising committee.

3) All the winner in the olympic games is NOT family member/bf/gf of any of the game committee.
As an additional note, Janice the Olympic Champion is an active forummer here and do attend OB training with
puppy.com.my and David the Reserve Champion is not even related to puppy.com.my as for as I know.

If you think that we are doing such a lousy job, perhaps you can volunteer to run the next event?
Please inform the forum Admin if you would like to volunteer for the next event.

bomberZ Last minute add a new rules after concluded the all games, no doubt the committee are doing a lousy job!!! I didn't see Fawn mention anything about committee member dominated the events or "fixed". Maybe BonberZ misunderstand why Fawn being frastrated over this incident. BomberZ & committee members still didn't answer why last minute adding new rules in the event!!! I not here to support Fawn or who ever nor I want to start up an arguement. I just feel it is unfair for the participants. That it!!!

chrisong,

The mistake the games committee make here is that we did not take the time to define the rules and regulation upfront before the event started.

We will take this mistake as a lesson learn and will draft out the rules and regulation for games in the future.

As for the "fixed" and "our dog" remark, is just some comment that have come to our attention from organising game in the events.

v really appreciate tat d volunteer do sacrifice for d event....totally salute u guys...

but from ur comment above, i wonder do u actually attend d 'other dog event' in person n witness d progress of d games n trial... d committee might dominate it, but it was purely on d dog's ability n absolutely not being 'fixed' as per u had trying to claim.

they do welcome anyone from any training school to come forward to participate....as per wat v did, v come n join pp.com event to gv our support to healthy local dog activities...

d outcome totally contradict wit wat v read from d website.....if d committee really thinks that d rules had great importance...take note about it next time....n dun try to fixed new rule, juz after d event had concluded....

If you & the committee members had make a mistake didn't include the rules than you all should let the result stand. Can't just simply add in new rules last minute!

What will you feel if you are in Fawn situation!!! Dissapointed & Angry right!!!

Even I not involved in it but I know how he feel now.

amanda,

I am just telling you the reason why we the games committee do not participate in our own games. In the past, we have comment from other participant that once the games committee join our own games, and if he/she win then the result is "fixed".

As for event organise by other group, is very unfortunate that I have not personally attended any of the event, I just saw the aftermath.. ie the result and saw most of the winner are from the organising team. That is only my observation.

BTW, I never doubt your dog or other dog ability.

Very paiseh if the photos come our not up to expectation leh...but it's easy to take candid shots and more natural doggy face, I am very shy to ask people to let me to take thier photos...so long lens then I can take from far without their notice..

Chrisong,

No doubt that the games commitee make a mistake for not outlines the rules before the event started.

But after all is say and done, the commitee have made a decision that is fair to all the participant in order to get a direct comparision of result.

The decision is final.

Finally, the games committee have admitted that they made a mistake in not defining the proper rules before the event. However due to the committee’s error, we as participants have relied on and followed the rules which were posted on the Event page only to find that our dog has been penalized for following the prescribed rules. As a result, the Reserve Champion title was taken away from him. N d committee can still come to the conclusion that it is still fair to all participants?

I beg to differ on this and the sentence should read ‘the committee has made a decision that is fair to all participants, except Groovy.’

Bomberz, I think you should refrain from opening anymore can of worms (‘fixed events’, ‘dominated by organizing committee’), as I’ve not even described the whole story of what actually happened on the Olympic Day which will reflect very poorly on the games committee’s indiscretions.

whoa.. let me clarify again. The previous Olympic, Both JRT owners are facing each other's back as I can recall. Let's say one is at 12oclock and another person is at 6 oclock. The last dog to leave b4 the final 2 was beside me and YES i'm one of the contestants because i'm the final 2 competitor there. Once that dog leave the ring, barely 10 secs, the winner is announced. We didnt move away from our dogs unlike this olympic event.

Besides, i think ppcom games committee should've own up to their own mistakes for not including the "so called" additional rule and follow back the unedited rule and give credits to those who have won fair and square. The main point of the whole event is about the dogs and dogs alone should be judged. If the owners are judged also, what about real olympians that have won 1st place in 100m sprint but ended up 3rd place because his/her trainer cant run as fast as he/she could and the total tallied time of the runner and trainer is averaged up?

I'll just wade in here to say that my dog and I enjoyed ourselves and that we thank puppy.com for organising this event.

But the games thing could have been better organised. I agree that it is unfair to fish a hitherto unseen rule out of the hat to cook the results. This reflects very poorly on the games committee and I find your attempts to justify the committee's decisions very lame. And I think it is very bad of you to cast aspersions on the way Pet n U organise their events.

My dog and I took part in the first event and bagged a prize, and the prize winners for that and a couple of other events were called to the ring to take the prizes at about 10 am. I walked over to the ring. Nothing happened. I then learnt from someone with a puppy.com t-shirt that they'd all given up getting the prize winners to collect the pizes. In the end, the prizes were given out at about 1 pm. Mun Yee and Groovy were hot on our heels during the second lap of the race and came in second. But only the first and third prizes were given out. I didn't stay to ask why they didn't come to collect their prize.

I think one of the problems was you had competition from the Purina 30-day challenge thing. For a long time all I could hear over the PA system was the disc jockey from some radio station. The announcements from the ring where the games were held were completely drowned out.

The last time there was such an event, prize winners were asked to hang around immediately after each game and we were then very quickly shepherded into the ring to receive our prizes. This wasn't done last Sunday.

Arún and I look forward to the next puppy.com event and we hope the committee will take on board some of these criticisms. We're not interested in the prizes - Arún eats home-cooked meals a lot of the time and when she does get kibble now and then, it's not Purina. But we would find it much more congenial if everything was fair and everybody can have a lot of fun without things turning sour in this way.

All best.
