Lic for rottie? [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi.. would like to ask a few questions

1) is it possible to attain a lic for my rottweiler? I went to a certain pet shop and they told me that it is not possible to get a lic for a rottie as it is a "so called restricted" species ard here. My 5 mths pup had already finish all his vaccine.

2) Do they allow large breed dogs (especially rotti) to travel on plane? Cos i am planning to send my rottie back to sabah home but was not sure whether MAS or other airline allow rotti on board and since my poor rotti got no lic which make me think it would be even more difficult?

Pls help!!

Hie,

Still haven't get the picture of my pup yet..... For the licence , it

depends on the local autorities.... Some places allows you to get a

licence and some not ... Check if the breed is ban or not in your district...

I think Rottweilers are deeply misunderstood. They are wrongly seen as fierce and labeled as Killer Dogs. But my girl Bessy is the most manja and loving dog! She only knows how to lick people and make everyone her friend. Useless guard dog, but I don't care Smile

I agree with Yueli... Chewy is so manja and loving. Like a big slobbery teddy bear!

I didnt have a problem getting a license for her... I just put her colours as Black & Tan and breed... I put "Mixed breed"! I'm not required to show her cert or anything coz mixed breed... where got cert?? LOL! If MPPJ so free to come and check... how are they going to prove she's a purebred Rottie? I'll just claim ignorance. Fed up with having to justify wanting to have a Rottie coz the authorities have small and narrow minds!!

My two cents worth, forget about puppy food, start them both on the same big dog food just feed them according to their weight. Let your Rottie grow at it's own natural pace do not hurry it with puppy food and calciums. The pups in my avarta are all on big dog food once they were weaned only issue is you need to soak the keebles until they soft, that is all. They grew up all big and healthy now, 1 year and 1 month old.

Re: [junior81] Attention Rottie lovers.. [In reply to] Can't Post

I have head of some opinions from some very good breeders. They mention that some dogs like GR do not grow as big as they should be all because of too much vitamins in their younger days. They will grow fast when young but will stop preetty soon. So this person feeds normal adult food to his pups. They grow a bit slower initially but they all turn out all big in size later on. If you are worried you can try food like natural balance, evangers, canidae which the food is for all life stages..

I dun have a rottie. i have mongrels. Have dealt with many dogs large n small breeds. The feeding is totally depends on you. i would say to follow the recommendation that is given behind the package. Yes Evangers is expensive but I still feed that to all my dogs. Different dog suits different brands. My dogs go on raw feeding also.. Good dog food is definitely expensive. Do check out nutrition n diet thread. More discussions on it can be found there..

first before protection work...Im not sure but i think the protection training can only get serious when they are 18 months of age may be you can check in the sch and protection traning forum

Do you have your puppy's pedigree certificate? Just interested in the bloodline of your puppy. I am attaching a website for you to browse. http://www.der-rottweiler.com/menu2_01.html . By the way, I think feed your 3 months old puppy at least 3 times a day will be great and not to feed one large meal at once. I think the recommendation of Canidae is a great choice, because I had been using this brand for more than 10 years. The only vitamin I would give is Vit. C, because there is some literature mentioning about HD prevention. Well, HD is a complex topic, and so I will not dwell on it. Enjoy your Rottie. I do not think Rottie are lazy, but you must realize that they have black coat, and so "heat" is probably going to be an issue now. The male are more aloof and may not seek things out versus the female. But please train you puppy now, and not let bad habits become too much a irritation later because it is so much more difficult to correct.

Colour of coat looks good. I cannot see his proportion from the photo because his head is sort of not proportion. If you could take a picture of his head without the distortion and also another photo of stacking him will be great. I think he is more than 3 months old now, and so it is a good time to start training him a little. He probably has German ancestry, as there are many dogs being imported into Malaysia through Eastern European countries and not directly. However, there are some directly from Germany as well, and so it will be good to get the certificate; though it is hard to know whether it is really truly their pedigree bloodline. I had kept Rotties for 20 years, and imported them myself from Germany directly as a hobby. Enjoy you Rottie!

hm well...my jrt is almost one year when i get my 2 months plus rottie...both are male at first the jrt will bully my rottie by biting his ears but they are playing and maybe the jrt wanna let him know that he is still the big brother in the house but as u can see the pic of my rott he is getting big the jrt seldom bully him...

but one thing funny is....whenever we pamper my jrt...rotti sure come and push him away....seems the late comer jealosity is more great....sometimes they sure fight lar...but small fight when u shout they stop.....they wont hurt each other.....they like to play run run and catch catch also.....so no worry that they wont get along.....

but whatever the jrt doing...my rott sure follow ...like when my jrt angry he will bite my rubber pipe....the rott also following sometimes.......

rott is a very powerfull dog...their strengh....haha u cant imagine....:)..moreover is male....

have to keep them undercontrol.....like whenever u try to take out things from their mouth...make sure they wont challenge you.....

Stick? Training dog? I saw some website do teach using stick. they use stick as a lead for the dog to do something...like sit, down, follow...

If it is the stick you mentioned, then i think you could use any stick available.....for example, radio antena...wooden stick....but glue a small ball on the end of stick..

I guess the main issue here is not sitck but the methond they used...1st, they aplly honey or peanutbutter on the end of stick......use it to lure the dog....then gradually do it without it.....

Saw on youtube, one guy use stick to lead dog on heel position and guide the dog to sit..................

So, it is what you mean the "stick"??

My bf and I just got a rottweiler puppy recently. He is now 3 months and 1 day old.

Rocky/Rottie/Male/27 July 2008/Normal Rott color/slenz/Kuching

I am pretty sad because it's hard to find rottie owners here in Kuching, cause most people here only like small and cute dogs. And summore I am very anti when it comes to dogs wearing shirts etc, cause as what Victoria Stilwell said, dogs are not accessories. When you dress them up, you'll not only make them uncomfortable but also block all their senses away. Apart from that, it's hard for you to read the body language too.

Btw, any of your rottie puppies eat soil and charcoal? Mine always curi2 go to the garden and eat soil whenever he have the chance. Help!!!

Totally agree with you Slenz abt dressing up dogs. MUCH TOO HOT! and what is even worse for the poor dogs, they are constantly being carried around by the owners (body heat as well) or carried in a bag!!

Yes, apparently rotties are prone to eating soil/rocks/plants - mine did, still does occasionally, eat just abt anything from the garden! LOL. So it was always No!No! No! from me. I could see the disgust on my beloved rottie's face then..Ha Ha. She must also have been a goat in her past life coz she munches on grass too...

Enjoy your rottie pup... she'll outgrow those cute quirks before you know it...But do try to prevent your pup from eating things from garden as they could be poisonous/toxic and not to mention cause diarhoea.Smile

My dobe face the same problem. I always keep an eye on him when i let him loose. It will save me cost to see Vet (caused by indigestion)

I did came across someone who already sent his dog to Vet twice because of indigestion....The vet found out that the dog's stomach is like DBKL...plastic, paper, stone, grass......

Feed garlic is good for detox and also keep tick and fleas away!!!

Good luck!

i feed my rottie with normal Innova (rated 5 stars) plus wet food.

Elaine, maybe royal canine is too salty for ur dog. last time when my colleague feed her german shepard with pro pac, the dog shed a lot too.

also i dun think it's wise to feed ur 3 mths old rottie with adult dog kibbles cause the protein level is too much in there.

our vet told us not to let our rottie to grow so fast, cause they need to slowly build and strengthen their bones so they can support their weight when they grow older.

if u need any assistance about dog food, dun hesitate to contact me via

email: shirley.yeo(@) .com

yeaps!! i agree with PSY.

crude protein should be 26% and not more for puppies.
crude fat 16% or not ... but puppies, stick to 16%.
fiber must be less or equals to 4%.
moisture less or equals to 10%.

also make sure that your kibble
1. do NOT contain by products
2. AVOID any products that use unidentified “meat”, “animal” or “poultry” products.
3. do NOT contain corn, wheat, gluten, soy (very hard to digest and allergy).
4. Should NOT have more than 2 grains listed in the first five ingredients.
Eg. Chicken, chicken meal, turkey, turkey meal, brown rice, chicken fat (GOOD cause first 4 are meat products)

check it out here for more info: www.dogfoodanalysis.com/how-do-you-rate-the-foods.html

u can try origin puppy or eagle pack large breed...

i feed him eagle pack large breed....normally i will just buy big packet...16kg....but my rott just dun like lamb and brown rice....for me..lamb and brown rice...no taste also..hehe...i never eat..i just smell..

agreed royal canin is too salty...i smell it also feel salty...

rott should be a big build dogs.....if too small or skinny....not macho already...

Just read on, don't you think it is getting more confusing on this particular topic, no one seems to have the same OPINION so in short it is not much help to poor Elaine. As for vets, medical they do know but food do not think so, then again it is my opinion. By the way my posting reads "not much help" and not "no help" plus mentioned she has to decide what is best for her dog.

Hello,

I am new joiner. I am looking forward to have a Rottie.

But very hard to select one.

There are lot's of negative feedbacks given to me.

Some told me to get the young one (less then 2 months). But some says don't buy Rottie or any pubs less then 3 months.

Some says must make sure the parents are not Bro & Sis. To avoid the complication, must buy from reputational breeders.

But I m kinda confuse now. How to select? Who are the reputable breeders? What is the nice pub age to buy?

Hi!!!

Good to hear that you are looking forward to have a Rottie. But before you really decide, have you done a research on them.

They are strong dogs. Even any dogs you plan to have, you must have the time to train them and also spend time playing and loving them.

Good Luck!!!!

I am staying Kelana Jaya.

I went few places from top to bottom of Selangor, but only this guy satisfy me.

I bought it from Kota Kemuning, I've contacted the and they gave few breeders contacts.

This guy is one of them. I really satisfy the way he managing the Rotties and also the pubs.

So I just grab him. If you have any guide or advice on taking care of Rottie, just let me know.

Because this is the first time I am taking care of a Rottie. Wink

SS2? Wow so near...

I am SS5 Smile

I am giving him Natural Balance.

Bought from pet shop at SS2, nearby Poh Kong. They say it's good as pet's having less health problem after having it compared to any other brand.

Now I am placing him inside the house because worried he can't adopt the outside temprature.

Is that ok? Where did u place ur buddy when he was young? Did u bring him for training?

hm well...

i bought my rott when he was 2 months plus...i give him stay outside of cuz when he is young i padlock the cage when at nite..scared ppl curi mar...

then when he is 3 months plus i only let him freely outside..none of my dog is in my house...i let them used to the environment outside...

cuz my first dog is jrt...i let him sleep inside when he was young and when u put him outside..he will keep begging to come in....

i normally bought food frm the aunty ss2 too...my dog try eagle pack, evangers and natural balance as well....you may try eagle pack large breed...very good i can say..but normally every 3 months i will switch them among this 3 brands....if everyday u eat maggie mee..of cuz u will bored also...

when he is young i feed him 2 cups per meal , 2 meal per day...make him big size a bit then obverse his weight..then after that i only cut down his food..:)

of cuz u must train ur rott....rott without training is dangerous...he can adopt outside temp when at nite..no problems for them..they are black, they prefer cold....

ur nick name beckkham..cuz u are football mania..hahahahhahaa..

if can add me in facebook we may chat there

ccn1231 with hotmail ID...

every dog food brand claims they are premium food but just let ur dog try which suitable for them...

I think you better not take Neo out just yet. Rott have very bad inmune system. You need to finish his vaccine first, I been advise by my Vet.

I only can take her out now after all her vaccine has been done. That is now ..... after 5months old....Frown

Please check with your vet first....ok....

God Bless

Re: [beckhamnair] Attention Rottie lovers.. [In reply to] Can't Post

Please DO NOT let your puppy out of the house/ go for a walk / play with other dogs UNTIL your pup has completed his course of vaccinations and even then, at least 2 weeks later!

Rotties are known for their weak immune systems and are very prone to parvovirus which almost always causes death. Keep a look out for bloody stools and act on it immediately by checking with a vet.

Please read up more on caring for rottweilers.

I totally agree with you. That is what I did. After all her vaccine has been made. And after 2weeks later then you can take Neo out.

Have you gotten the pedigree certificate yet? By the way, did you see whether the sire and dame certificates? Are they local certificates or imported ones? Is the world champion grandsire Bronko?
