Hi, hmm.. as what i know normally Basset do eat a lot during puppy period but some ll start eat less when they grown up .... maybe around 1 year old.. :)

Hi Basset Hound lovers,

I also own a 10 months old male Basset Hound. Very adorable eyes and face expression.

a crowd puller !!! Agreed with all the previous postings about the natural behaviour of BH, when I take him for a walk, will tend to pull me to the place he likes instead of me pulling him. But I always don't allow him to do that to show who's the BOSS !!!

i also have a basset hound, male and about 3 years old...

however, my parents don't really like it cos i put it inside the house..

i feel like i can't spend much time for him too...

just thinking of giving him away..

I am very sorry to hear about you giving away your basset.

Well, at the end of the day, just make sure that he ends up in a good home.

Maybe you can try talking to your parents about it. Basset does make a good pet.

Last sunday morning, my basset suddenly could not wake on his 4 legs, the rear left one cannot stand properly. Later in the afternoon, get even worst.....leaving the front legs pulling the heavy body around, the problem rear leg cannot stand at all, due to the heavy weight, I think other side of the rear leg cannot support !!!

Check very carefully for wounds / cuts / stones and etc, but could not find a thing, so the next day he was alright again. These few days took him for a walk, and did not notice anything strange at all.

What could be the problem ? Is this a indication of health problem ? My Basset is abt 1 years old.

These 2 days, whenever saw me back from work or wanted to feed him, he would just acted as if he got problem, not sure if he is "pretending" or wat ?

Any idea ?

Well... that's really a tough situation.

I think the best solution to it is to ask your vet about it.

I feel that don't wait till the last minute before deciding what's the best for your dog. Don't take chances.

There was once when my dog refuse to eat and wasn't like himself.

We thought it was normal and ignored it till he lost alot of weight and we panic.

Later brought him to the vet and found out that if we delayed any longer, we might just loose him.

hi..im getting a basset hound this friday...male..name's biskit...umm..any suggestion on how to potty train this breed???i live in an apartment and i dont want to take him outdoors..too often...

Hi, I am a pround owner of 3 basset hounds. I used to have one when I was living in the state and because of her age (9 yo), the vet advised me not to bring her back. As a result, I bought one male basset (2 years old), two female one (around 4 months old).

They are such a adorable dogs, wouldn't you agree?

I do agree with you that basset are one of a kind. They are simply unique.

How does your 3 furkid get along? Do they bully one another? mine is pretty lonely. I am not sure whether he is enjoing the peace and quiet nap everyday or he prefer another companion.

We should meet up one day and let them get together!

Hi Doodle,

My three dogs are very active and the 2 younger one are growing at an amazing speed. I guess they have a large grass field to run around. I think if you let them, they will be able to play for one whole day, non stop. As for the bullying, they do practice some 'fake' dog fight. In the beginning, I was worried but I have never seen they get hurt. Furthermore, I saw on Discovery Channel, it was saying that this is the way the pups learn how to protect and defend their territory.

Yes, I like the idea of letting the dogs associating with each other. Let's arrange some time. I'm leaving in Puchong area, how about you?

Recently, one of my neighbor who couldn't handle her basset and had ask me whether I would like to adopt. I have taken one more in and I still debating whether to keep her or give her up for adoption. (Coz handling 4 is pushing my limit)

Anyway, hopefully I can hear from you soon.

I used to stay in puchong when i was studying. But now I am currently located in singapore. But my bf stays in ampang. On weekend, he goes back to subang.

Hi all, I am currently looking for a dog and besset hound is one of them on my list. I would like to know how are the maintenance for a besset hound. Such as their diet, their behaviour, ease of training them ect ect. I think they are very addorable and cute.

hihi,

i just get a bassett hound from xx, but i discover some skin desease from the dog when i first saw him..

i think the owner din treat him well.. she say she just put him at the back of her office.. and feed him once a day, never come out have a walk before..so bad right Mad

i already took him to the vet, under medication now.. so i think should be ok d

but i'm not so clear abt basset hound behavior.. i just know that they are very clumsy, very greedy..

izzit very hard to take a good care for them?

I'm the proud owner of Basset Hound too. His name is Coco, 1 year old this coming 15th of Sept. I'm currently staying at Penang and i notice not many Basset around. Only Fido(coco's twin brother) and a female basset i saw years back.

anyone would like to give up his/her basset hound, i would gladly take it...i own a female basset hound and would like to get her another companion. Basset hound is a very loving dog but not appropriate if use as a guard dog. U can contact me at mr7077
