well, Chinese New Year is as good as pass, so anything new in the dob world. Heard there is some major dog gathering at Megamall on 29th March, not sure what it is all about. MKA AGM tonight, not sure many will be going as I am sure some members are still away, not sure why a Friday and not a Saturday as per usual....., so any members going?

hi mrNobody... how's your pup going on? mind to share some photos?

as i said before...doberman is a fantastic pedigree...they can be trained to do whatever you wish...it just the matter of the person who train them...and i'm still keep learning of that...

i'll post some pics soon... Smile anyway, a question for all the seniors here...currently my dobe is tied on a leash..i cant let him off the leash to roam around my porch..previously, he almost tore down the whole porch of mine therefore, he's always on a leash ...usually, b4 i leave home for work, i;ll release him for feeding and 2 do his bzness, then he;ll be back on the leash till evening...usually, i;ll take it out for a walk/run in the evening ..and he;ll be back again on the leash once its my turn2 have my own leisure time...so my question is..will i "kill/destroy" his temperament if i were to leash him for such a long hours? sometimes, he'll gimme the FrownFrown look on his face...

I've a 7 years old Dobermann, they always like to have freedom, they will be bored and "no mood" when you tied them and even they will not bark to the stanger and eat less when they are not happy. Try to give him freedom and spend more time with him, they like to play and enjoy walking outdoor.

Re: [mrNobody] new owner reporting [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi welcome,
ok get yourself a crate to crate him... a crate not one of those cages. Let him run free when at home and walk him not run him. If you let him off and he runs then it is fine. If you tie it up you will have a very poor top line and also it's fine leg will likely to open when he stands on all four. Do not let anyone tell you that crating a dog is bad as it is only bad when you make the crate into a "solitary confinement" as in when it is punish. You need to make the crate into a save haven for it, a place to eat and rest. Good luck.

agree with edmund3333...Doberman's are built for speed and have tremendous stamina. A jog around the block will not do, they need regular vigorous exercise...

As for my dobermann, he has the freedom to walk around the house compound since he is trained and know the "house rules" such as not bite anything else beside his toys, not going out when we open the main gate etc...

I bring him out once a week for a walk and play with him oftenly

Re: [cckey] new owner reporting [In reply to] Can't Post

ahemm to have a show dog ..well then you better know about the fine blood lines they come from ..thats the vital info you need in order to get into the show...

i believe not all dobies are same here ..just like mine ...ain't that perfect but then it's my learning curve and vital to know about their behaviour and so on ...

PSY , dobeace and some of them here have the real good info on what and how to look out for to obtain a show line ...

those from petty breeders ...nahhh not so exclusive as what some of them own here ...

anyway hope you enjoy every moment of this journey ...

Ciao,
I'm based in KL. Just back from one week training in Italy with some amazing dobies in preparation for the IDC working dobermann World Championship.
See the web site : www.idc-wm-2008.at/idc-web%20englisch/E-index.htm
Be clear that I'm just an avid student at the moment but it's very interesting to see different training methodology. I've the luck - when I go back to Italy for holiday - to work with Florindo Coppo a 40 years dobermann breeder and dobermann judge. I'm very happy to share whatever I know with you guys.

Hey bro,

nice to see you back in the forum, you have been very low profiled for a while. How are things and how is your dog doing? We must meet up in the next gathering, dogs and all.
