finnstar so glad that there is such a person who sit down & really think for the animals. well frankly speaking, from my knowledge, certain animal shelters do receive suffiecient or should i say more donations than their expenses. this lead to corruptions rather than helping the animals. of corse shelters will give u lots of reasons y they "constantly" need donations, but my concern is: is it true donations is the most important thing for an animal shelter? well u should ask the shelter, how they going to spend the money. if the shelter going to spend the money to put the dogs to sleep, will u still interested to find donations for them? if the shelters receive lots of donations but didnt use the money to spend on the animals, will this help? my humble opinion is, the most important thing that we should concern of is the adoption rate of a shelter. most of the animals at the shelters, I mean MOST will being put to sleep due to limited space. thus, if donation is the main focus, ppl will tend to donate money to kill. well a shelter will always tell u they dont have choice, they need to kill in order to accept more abandoned. but the fact is they need to kill in order to kill more if the adoption rate is still so low. They can kill all the strays & abandoned in 1 moment, but the fact is as long as there is irresponsible owner, there will be anotehr animal end up being sent to animal shelter the next moment. it is sad most animal shelters nowadays seems encouraging ppl to dump dogs at their shelter. they might say it is better than the dogs being stray, but this will lead to endless killings since the public are not well informed or educated abt their responsibility. they are thought to be irresponsible instead. since u r a student, r u planning to start a group to rescue the strays with other youngsters? it is good if u able to educaet public since young. & through ur great relationship with those big organisations, suppose u can get good funding to rescue, not fund those who kills or put the donations through animal's bloods into their own pockets. by the way, be aware of ppl who seems good beside u, they might be very bad. doing charity seems great, but u will realise it doesnt mean so when u really get involve. cheers & take care. i will always support TRUE animal rescuers. u too if u r. Yang Regards, Yang
