Hi Jenn,

Sorry to hear that, poor Brinkley, but no worry, as what you mentioned, a small operation.Wink Keep my finger cross, hug her on my behalf (the golden hug, OK). I & Bonney will pray for Brinkley and god bless.

Just something to share with you....

when i brought mack to the vet for his eyes allergies, he was so pain becoz of the injections, eyes treaments, the cleaning process while the vet and nurse holding him "tight"....... also during the time i put oilment to his eyes, he was in great pain.
Guess what?!Shocked He was angry with me. He closed his eyes and refused to look at me. When i walk away, he opened his eyes .... if i glance at him, he'll quickly close his eyes up, like protesting!!
i kept telling him "mummy love you, mummy help you....so you will get better....mummy sek-sek mah....."
he need to be doted a lot loh.....
then when he got better, i brought him for more walks in a day. I think he knew it...... he will appreciate and be more cheerful.
Sometimes, really feel like a human relationship.Smile

Re: [mackmack] Golden Retriver - Eye Infection? [In reply to] Can't Post

Aww... that sounds really sweet! Brinkley is mostly very good about being treated... can't believe she lets me clean her eye, squeeze gunky ointment in it, and lay so still for me.

But sometimes when she's had enough, she does what Mack does, she just shuts her eye. Then when she thinks I've finished wiping her eye, she slowly opens it, and when I move to wipe it again, she shuts it again and pretends to sleep!!!

And she just loves being brushed... so when I brush Luckey, Brinkley starts making these cute howley noises until I brush her too!

Re: [luckey] Golden Retriver - Eye Infection? [In reply to] Can't Post

YA~!

Mack Loves being brushed too!Wink

Mack was a bit fuzzy that time coz his eye lids got enlargement which really in pain, not just tears like Brinkley. and YES, closed the eyes pretend to sleep~Crazy

Don't you think Goldens not only very gentle and born to be smart, they also very very human oriented and acts like human? somehow i found mack could read my mind......terrified though....

yeah they are so gentle... Brinkley never lunges for food, never nips, she is even quite careful not to pounce on us when she is jumping all over the furniture and bed playing catch with Luckey. And they are naturally obedient coz they are not so hyper like cockers Wink ! so they're easier to train, i find.

Re: [arthur] Golden Retriver - Eye Infection? [In reply to] Can't Post

awww thanks Smile. She's just had her last meal before the operation and not allowed to eat again till end of tomorrow... but she's being so good about it. She just watched us eat chicken and pizza at dinner and didnt even ask for any. (ok ok she asked, but we said no, then she just lay down under the table Wink)

HOpe it's just 10 days for recovery like the vet said, coz am planning to take her for the CGC exam Cool ! Do you know when that is?

yeah, they know what i'm thinking and know what i like and dislike.

that fella, when he "miss place" his pee, he'll hide immediately when he sees me. (even before i find out)

and for the puppy, she'll run away when she heard my call everytime she pull my plant out and chew it like snacks.

that's why i say they only know how to "gek sei ngo"Wink

hehehe... my next breed will be an afghan hound! Cool

but not yet. I think 2 dogs quite enough for us right now... maybe when we have kids or something, then each dog gets enough attention Wink

Brinkley is back home now... sleeping like a log! She hasnt fully come out of her GA yet, that will happne around midnight tonight. They shaved off the fur round the eye they were working on, but should grow back in 1 -2 months time...

anyway, she is ok, so we're very happy... but she has to wear this mega big cone!

Re: [mackmack] Golden Retriver - Eye Infection? [In reply to] Can't Post

well in breed description books, afghans are described as aloof (cat-like) and also bred to hunt, so they like to chase small animals. But all the afghan owners I've talked to seem to say they are the most gorgeous dogs, so dunno. There's this afghan breeder, where her 6 year old kid was showing her afghans in junior handler classes, the dog was like bigger than him! And one of her puppies grew up to become a therapy dog.

Re: [luckey] Golden Retriver - Eye Infection? [In reply to] Can't Post

great. she'll be tougher than u expected.

i had a spizt last time who suffered from bone cancer at the front leg, after the operation, she recovered sooner than i thought. (although she didn't make it at the end........)

i never see any afgan hound around, i wonder if there is any of them here. this is one of the dog that will make me lose control and scream (coz excited) if i see them standing in front of me (i might lose my mind and rob the dog's owner too (to get the dog)!) so, don't let me see it if u have it. Laugh
