Milo on the Table Can't Post

Hi all, here is a pic of Milo on the table. It was taken at the USDAA Regional Championships in Vancouver, WA. He has to stay in a down or sit position, depending on the course, for 5 seconds.

Hey, thanks for the compliment. Milo does have a nice coat, he gets missing link supplement and vitamins. My husband, Jef, runs our 2 dogs, Milo my chocolate lab and Gael, my border collie. He actually teaches agility once a week now, pity we are in the states and not in Malaysia. If you want to see more agility pics, go to our webpage: www.jef-b.com/Dogs/.

i have see some of those video clips at your website. your dogs are pretty fast. it must be hard to train them to jump or go over the obstacles.

I know! I actually went to Texas to learn how to train dogs and came back from there just few months ago. I remember how fun it was when I did the Agility with my assigned dog Troy (Aussie mixed). Every one of my classmates was so excited for this event every weekends there. I really wish there was some Agility courses available here so that many others will have so much fun with the cool sports and their doggies! I'm taking a transfer programme to University there in the states to take up Animal Behaviour course and hope to see many other stuff related to the doggies! I'm really glad to hear from you!

Neat that you watched the videos. Agility is hard work and yes, Milo and Gael are fast dogs. Milo is in fact faster than border collies sometimes. We are going to a 2 day AKC show this weekend at an off leash dog park, Marymoore, about an hour away from us. Got to wake up at about 5 in the morning and start driving there before 6 to set up our canopy, chairs and xpen. Anyway, have a great weekend and come back to watch more videos.

Re: [Sydney] Milo on the Table [In reply to] Can't Post

Milo's fastest run was 5.6 yards per second last year. He is currently 6th place on the very fast labs list (compiled by lab owners in the whole US). On July 5, at an AKC trial, Milo's time was 39.33 seconds, the course time was 63 seconds, total course length was 175 yards. So I think he is pretty fast. Here is the link showing times and names:

Just scroll down and you can see his name, Kingsland Milo Oh Peng.

That's so cool! Good luck on your coming Agillity Competition! I've heard from a person from puppycom this morning that there'll be Agility classes available from next year! I can't wait for it. I'm dying for the Agility! Woohoo! (Now I'm too happy for that) Laugh

Great pics of ur dogs doing agility…love d one with Jojo going through d hoop, full of concentration n confidence. C dat u hv put in some effort in making ur own equipment n even hv ur own hoop jump…good on you! Do u do agility at ur home only or at parks as well?

Also doing some workouts with my JRT at a small compound near B’sar sports complex. 4 weave poles, v r using thin bamboo poles instead. However, hv 2 shove in2 ground every time v use it. A bit lecehlah, especially when d ground is hard n dry. Hv u made ur own weave poles n r u joining d puppy.com agility classes in mid-March?

Re: [groovemaster] Milo on the Table [In reply to] Can't Post

I m just trying it out at home for time being, slowly build more equipments then will shift to the padang nearby. I didn't join any class yet, my dogs still not doing well, we just do it for fun, as they enjoy it very much. They thought is a game to them.. haha espeacially russell he always very exciting when i run together with him and he has to go tru all the obstacle in fast speed. I m trying to train him on wave right now, I just got some idea from milo's owner, so i will train him on that hopefully he can wave in few mths... haha

Thank you for visiting my site, hope you enjoy the photos there.

Re: [shyeow2] Milo on the Table [In reply to] Can't Post

Yup, pole weaving is d most difficult obstacle 2 master. I think u n ur dogs hv 2 practice it every other day 2 b really good at it. My JRT can weave a little bit depending on his mood n d weather n his level of excitement n d toy (so many ‘if’s), but not consistent enof. Quite a smart ass n will skip a pole or two ven I’m not looking. Good luck in ur exercises, n hope 2 catch ur dogs in action on a full agility course someday.

mind to share on how to get the dog to weave pole? Roxy seems to outsmart herself and even when we try to lure her with treats, she will go at the side of the pole instead of between them..

btw my dog is a golden retriever. i am not planning to join any agility competition just something to amuse the kids....

Thanks

agility is where a dog is trained to go through obstacles, jump over obstacles, and trained to overcome the obstacles...

hi there,
i would like to share some weave pole training method with those luv agility. i don't know.. but it does work for my dog.. so may be some of yours may try...

basically i found the slanted weave pole and 'wire' method very difficult..... what i did i put the poles with far distance and initially only 4 poles.. by walking together with my dog..i use my hand as signal and command them 'in'.. 'out'.. 'in' .. 'out' after they know the concept.. u may change the command to 'weave'.. slowly try without hand signal.. and increase number of poles as well shorten each poles distance..

happy trying~ LaughLaugh

Re: [shyeow2] Weave pole training [In reply to] Can't Post

Certainly an original n great idea for learning d weave. Where hv u got 2 on d weave poles?

4 me, I’ve taken d easy way out by luring my dog in n out d poles with my fist holding his fav ball. Nowadays dont need 2 hold d ball anymore n only need 2 hold my fist straight beside d poles. So depending on d weather n his mood, he sometimes get d weave right…n sometimes he chooses 2 miss a couple of poles.

Groovy (JRT), ‘Pole weaving is difficultlah…like doing d catwalk at 100km/hr.’

Hi, Graavy master,

My 2 monsters finally can weave on command 'weave'

Russell the cocker spaniel complete 12 poles around 3.9-4.2 second

Jojo the mongrel complete 12 poles around 7-7.5 second

My friends advise me do it right instead fast, so, still working on the skill and speed. how is your progress there?
