My Taro enjoy air-cond almost 24 hrs a day,he will alwyas select the best spot to lay down and sleep.

He is selective in food, all becasue of my wife lah...feed him only Japanese dog treat...so pampered and yet adorable.

It's so difficult for me to feed him vitamin or medicine, even the antibiotic have to request the Vet to feed.Pirate

Will have to take holiday soon and go to hunt all the Petshop for Pengkinese !

eh popeye18, you groomer ah? where you located? my babies in desperate need of grooming. just moved house, so conditions still quite messy, so the poor babies also a bit neglected. especially lingling. don't know why, when she pee, she doesn't finish her pee fully before she walks away, so the fur around her peepee area (the you-know-where) always got pee stains and after a while become stinky. then must wash. a few times i ask pet shop to shave all the fur of that area. but still grow back, of course. sakit kepala!

i think i'm lucky in that sense. they are quite good when it comes to food. they eat enough and stop, except lingling, she tends to over eat a bit, because she thinks tutu will grab her food! but when we take any plastic bags or any sound of opening a plastic bag, they will all come charging towards us, thinking there is food inside. so sometimes i kacau them, take empty plastic bag and make a lot of noise. when they know they kena cheated, they bark and scold me! haha!

hi people with pekes (haha new group name for us),

attaching some pictures for you all to see.

this is nicky. he has always been a serious dog. quiet and brooding. he likes to protect his girlfriends - tutu and lingling. when we scold the girls, he will run over and cover them. he is the big kor kor. very alert. any little noise, he will warn us. he likes licking my toes. lately i found him raiding my laundry basket, playing with my socks - hmm, he must like my stinky feet! haha!

fatty lingling (left) and petite tutu (right), protected by handsome nicky at the back - my 3 precious babies.
now i have 4 babies but baby adek just cannot stay still for a photo-shoot!!

this is tutu. my energetic girl. she can run up and down stairs very fast, despite her size. she very sombong - doesn't want to go near my mix doggie gigit. she will look at gigit and 'heh', turn her backside and walk away. she is the smartest, quick to pick up instructions. when i say 'kitchen', she knows where to go. when i say 'upstairs', she will lead the way!

last but definitely not least, meet lingling, my fatty bombom. she is complete opposite to tutu. slow and gentle. the two pictures were taken about 5 minutes apart - she didn't move much! usually she will just walk around slowly, but when there is food... she can jump like an olympic high-jumper. but when you ask her to climb stairs, no way!! must carry her!!

there you have it - my 3 babies!

if you guys have time, tell us about your babies.

Me & my wife went to shop around at Pet shop looking for Pekingnese, the first shop we enter we saw many Pug on sales,

The second shop we went, ans we saw two adult Pekingnese, one yellowish white and one TRI-Colour looks like the St Bernard color female, but not for sale..Unsure I ask about hte price and she told me the Tri-colour Pekingnese will cost more than RM2200....even without cert ??? Just because the color is rare, but I don't think it's the breed standard either...she really looks cute and pregnant ...

My wife wants it..but for me the price doesn't match the breed standard,it's the first time I seen TRI-Color Pekingnese ! Have any one of you seen it before ?

no lah, never make nicky angry leh. he has always been quiet, serious and brooding. but don't know why, lately he really damn moody. when we sayang the other 2 girls, he will get jealous and want to fight with them when we put the girls back down on the floor.

maybe it is the family of strays outside. i sometimes give them food and he can see that from the balcony and he will 'woof woof' very angrily. at night, sometimes the strays will make some noise and he will get angry and bark bark bark very loudly. happening for the past few nights already - until i also losing sleep.

i hope he is not angry at us for helping the strays. so now i give him even more attention, brushing his fur, talking to him, hugging him. but sometimes i still have to shout at him because he likes to squirt his pee pee all over the place. hey, need advise, do you think if i neuter him, he will be less dominating? never thought of neutering him because he really quite 'tak pakai' when it comes to the 'baby-making' procedures, if you know what i mean WinkWink

Re: [tterrynick] Any Pekingnese Lover [In reply to] Can't Post

tterrynick, I believe what you're describing about nicky is a normal trait of pekes. They do need personal individual attention and are very attached to owners so can get jealous and stressed easily. I was at the vet with Hazel once when I met a guy who told me he used to have a few pekes. He did tell me I'm lucky I just got one peke. He said his few pekes always very jealous of each other and if he picks one up and sayang, then the others will be very jealous and try to bite the one he pick up. I see the same trait in my hazel because every single minute of the day at home, she will never let me out of her sight. Will insist to follow me everywhere I go. Even when I am showering, I have to let her in and she will sit at a corner. For your case, I think especially now nicky see you even pay attention to the strays outside, he even more stressed.

I really dun know in this case you should sayang him more or make him get used to it(coz each dog is different). But I think it's important you dun let him be too stressed and develop this into permanent.

Regarding neutering I never neuter my dogs before but here is the normal advise from most sources of vets and dog groups:

"We do not routinely recommend castration. If you (or your neighbours) have unneutered female dogs, life can become quite frustrating for your dog while they're in season twice a year and you could end up with unwanted litters.

If your dog tries to mate the furniture or your friends or children castration is advisable. (Though this can be a passing stage in adolescent, 6-18mths, dogs.)

If your dog is aggressive to people or other dogs castration might improve matters.

Or if your dog runs off regularly or urinates indoors castration MIGHT help, but in all these cases often behaviour training will also be needed.

There is a hormone injection available that has similar effects to castration and lasts 4-6 weeks. This could be given to your animal first to try and see if castration would have the desired effect."

Hope it helps.

Hi,

To really understand what your Nicky think and his emotion, I guess it will be nice to have a Bow-lingual to translate his language..

I can see my TARO are really moody when we told him that we are going to get someone into his life !

Not so sure who was the first one enter to your house ? Is it Nicky ? If it is nicky, you will always have to put him in first position, before you sayang others, sayang his fisrt. Call his name first once you enter home then others. When feeding food to them, give him first...always first for him.

Pekengnese are really smart & emotional, need a lot of attetnion, but some thime when you call him,he tends to ignore yo leh !

Every day when I go home,I need to call him first when he come to gret me,if I talk to my wife first, guess what ? He will bark at me and scole me leh !

Re: [wpc] Any Pekingnese Lover [In reply to] Can't Post

thank you, wpc & musashi for your advice!!!

nicky was our first dog. like little emperor but lonely because we were at work most of the time. so we bought tutu (her name actually is two two - number 2, mah) to keep him company. they were little a lovely couple. he protects and sayangs her. then we got lingling because she was nearly sold to a breeder for breeding purposes. they got along well. only tutu tends to be a bit jealous of lingling. finally came gigit, but she is outside the house.

i think he is not used to the new house as well. last time, we we get home and open the door, they can see us. we will let them do their business (gigit in her cage) first and then let gigit out to do hers. now, they are in the kitchen which is one floor up - the new house entrance is sort of like 'basement' because of a slight slope. when we get home, we play with gigit first. then we go up and play with them. furthermore, now got strays outside.

how? soon we will be getting a rottweiler. i hope he can take it!

by the way, how to train the spraying problem? last time not like that, leh. i scold him when i see him doing it. but sometimes too late. don't want to scold him too much also, scared he become more moody...Unsure

thanks for the enlightenment!!!!
