Hah.... you also agree with me ler? So, did you work out at FF also?

I'm still with Les, membership only expires around March 05. Although they don't have much variety of equipments, it's still ok for me because I prefer to go for classes like b/pump and steps.

Hmmm...... you really go workout or got other purposes Tongue ?

Actually it really doesn't matter which fitness centre to join (unless you got a special reason to join that particular one lah....) The instructors are the same. Same quality but different environment only lah...

Since I joined for 1 yr, the membership is cheaper, about RM55/month. They were having promotion at that time which is no joining fees. But they did advertised that the joining fees is RM1000. Pui... so expensive, who will want to join them? I think it's a part of their marketing strategy.

Okay lah.... no more on this. It's not related to puppy lah... Nanti kena boo.....

So, you going for the K9 day?

Hi Chris

Have not been to a K9 day before so really looking forward to it.

However, my dog has training session in the afternoon. It will be very exhausting for him to go to two exciting events in one day. Maybe I just drop by for awhile.

Re: [michelleteh] SKin problem? [In reply to] Can't Post

Okay guys..I took Ben to a nearby (another vet) for a good checkup on his skin..THe reddish spots were persistent..No choice lar...Anyway...DId a skin srape and did some observation under the microscope..And yes..I was invited to see it under the microscope as well...We discovered tiny long shaped "living" parasite called Demodex canis/cati moving under the magnification..And hence it was concluded that Ben has a form of 'mange' PirateUnsure.

It was concluded that it was possible that the parasites probably manifested when Ben had his 3rd jab. This is due to the fact that most dogs do have these parasites on their body..Just that they are more of opportunistic type..So when Ben's immune was down..The thrive..And manifested. And the other thing is...Sad lar..It is most like congenital..Meaning that..I bought a dog that is most likely from a puppy mill..I believe Michelle 'might' agree with me..

And from what the vet observed from Ben's sitting position..He may be in for a hard time in future as his sitting position may bring a higher tendency of hip problems...So ..He might have to start on glucosamine soon too..

FOr his current treatment..He is on Ivermectin..He was first given a dose (sub Cu) of Ivermectin. TOday..He was started on Oral Ivermectin..Hopefully..As time pass..He will be well managed (mange). The vet also mentioned that the next time he is jab with vaccinations..He might have a recurring problem of mange as well.. However..I m keeping my fingers crossed.

Another thing is..No BREEDING for Ben..It is for the safety of future GRs. What I like to applause this Vet is..He is kind enuff to 'talk' to me . Given me good advice and he is very professional in terms of diagnostic approach. Thumbs up..Not to mention..His fees are damn reasonable..(cheap)

Hi,

I'm sorry to hear about Ben's condition, hope he'll cope with the situation soon and be a healthy GR.

For more information on mange do browse through this post started by a member about how her dog coped for mange one year ago. very useful material there.

Hi Hunter,

Yeah, can't be siblings, can be friendsSmile Let me tell you, Daisy has 9 brothers & sisters, she is no. 7 in the litter...so imagine the time when I saw the 9 beautiful Golden puppies (1 was given away already), they were all so chubby and active and cute, I'm sure anyone will wish to own all of them...finally the owner kept 1 male & 1 female to himself, and since his house is near to mine, I can visit Daisy's mother, brother & sister.

How many dogs do you have? Are you bringing them to the K9 day?

Hello WendyS,

yes gotta admit it's really hard to *not* succumb into GR puppy cuteness! they're like little tanks! Took really a long time to pick my puppy too out of the litter of 6 :p but i guess it doesn't matter whichever we picked coz he/she will be the best!

I've got 2 golden retriever boys and a mixed retriever girl. People thought they're one doggy family actually, lol. I'll be bringing the boys to the k9 day this week. If you're going, hope to see you and little Daisy there :)!

Hi Kelsey,

Oh I was so busy the last 2 weeks, don't have time to reply leh.....How are you and how is Roxy doing, I hope she is not on heat, otherwise can't go the K9 day lor. I'm thinking whether to go to the K9 day or not, because Michelle reminded me that I have training class with Daisy at 11.15. Maybe my husband won't want to go to 2 places, problem is I'm not familiar with PJ, have to depend on him to send me to SS2 for training & plus Bandar Utama, he might be relunctant to go because he likes to relax & rest at home on weekends.

Regarding the plant & fish problem, my husband has got a solution already, that is to fence up our nice plants and the guppy pond...so now no more problem, everybody is happy.Smile I took some pictures of Daisy last 2 days, so will change my avatar soon, let you see her latest photo.

Re: [michelleteh] [beyond]SKin problem? [In reply to] Can't Post

Hey Michelle,

I'm also considering now, initially I forgot that I have training on that day too...What time is your training? My training is at 11.15am, but didn't see you last weekend....There are 3 small dogs in my group, 2 shih tzu, 1 golden X poodle (but the dog is more like poodle, very cute), so mine is also the biggest Sly Daisy was not very excited meeting other dogs & ppl, she just smell them and be friendly only, no jumping or barking, I think she was more interested in the field...when other dogs were relaxing on the mat, she either stood there or walked around us only.

So far the training is good after some practice, now she is learning the basic, ie. sit, look & come. She is more resposive after the training...Oh, something interesting happend this morning, she got my handkerchief and didn't want to return back to me...She put her paw on the handkerchief on the floor, like saying 'if you want it, try come to get it', I didn't chase her cos I don't want her to think it is a game...Finally, I said 'look', she sat down & looked at me, then I got back my handkerchief....so I want to say obedient training is very important.

Hi Beyond...sorry to hear about Ben's condition, the medical terms that you used are too 'technical' for me, I have to do some research to know them, I hope the condition isn't serious....Are you going to the K9 day too?

Hi Hunter, looks like you are a GR fan also...Sly How do you cope with 3 big dogs at home, just curious, are they contented playing by themselves, or do they still seek attention to play with ppl? Like Daisy, she will run all over crazily and likes to play with balls, I will kick the ball everywhere for her to chase & catch and we play hide & seek too...If I don't feel like playing, she will still play the balls by herself or try to catch a slipper.....Tongue

Re: [WendyS] SKin problem? [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi,

Yes I am indeed in love with the breed. Well I am not exactly coping with 3 big dogs YET since the puppy is only like 4 months plus now.

Since the 3rd addition came to our house, the problem we face now are things like using the garden - all dogs want to play but unfortunately i cannot risk my puppy getting trampled all over by the 2 adults (he IS a very brave little boy) so they'll have to be seperated.

Things like taking out for walks could also be tiring as they'll have to take turns. And when you have a bag of treats you will be surrounded by your pack lol. Not that i'm complaining, but it do take some time for myself and my family to adapt to all this.

Let's just say each dog has its own personality. Hunter is more of the family guy type and would just love to lie close to us or jump on the sofa and sleep during TV time. He would only pick a bone to play with and amuse us when we're around. When no one is there he'll spit the bone and go back in the house.

Muffin is a "career woman" and has a mind of her own. She is more comfortable playing outside alone or sleeping upstairs in the dark. She can dig holes in the garden and come back in the house with mud paws as if nothing happened. Most of the time she would invite hunter to play with her (but always got rejected)

As for Sheriff, he's still small. Very adventerous and would bark to demand for toys, treats or attention. For now he is really naughty, mischievious and stubborn and i think he prefers playing by himself or with the big dogs. but a dog's personality might change as they get older. so we shall see by then :)

I see that daisy is already attending obedience class already :)? i can't stress more the importance of training for dogs and with some effort it does make our goldens better companions than they already are :) hunter used to be really rough as a young dog but after years of training (age also a factor) he is now a sweet gentleman :)

is daisy your first dog? she looks quite dark from your avatar, might have a dark golden shade in future. would like to hear more about her :)

goldens. Gotta love 'em!

Re: [WendyS] SKin problem? [In reply to] Can't Post

wendy,

well unfortunately she is on heat. but we think it wil be cleared on sunday. her drops of blood are only on the first day so we think that she must have been licking it off for the past 3 days. it's really not hard to deal with when she is on heat. we were sleeping and when we woke up, we saw drops of blood on the floor, then we check her and there is no cuts or bruises and the blood looks like spots on the floor so we conclude she is on heat. she is 6 months now.

ohh...i hope u can make it as it would be great meeting you and daisy. roxy learned 3 more new tricks / commands 2 weeks ago. and that is "catch", "out", "up & hold it".

the first consist of she sitting about 2 feet away from me and i toss her a treat and she is suppose to catch it with her mouth and she got that. she perfected the catch treat from her nose. "out" is when i go to the bathroom, she likes to just sit in front of me waiting, so embrassing!:) my bathroom is dry and i have a bath mat that she just loves sitting on. and then when i am done, i say "out" and she will also go out of the bathroom. before she used to just stay there and i find this very useful for any room that i don't want her to be in without me.

"up and hold it" is more like the jump on command, i will tell her "up" and she will have her paws up on shoulders and i say "hold it", she will balance leaning on me till i say "drop" and she will go back down. she is getting so big or maybe i am just short..when she jumps on me, her paw reaches my shoulder..haha

i find the "catch" trick very amusing and i think your children would love it too.

hope to see you!

Do you think they know that they're brothers? Hmmm..... Wonder what they were barking or talking about? (My bro, I miss you... / Eh.... you know, my owner treats me so...... / Did you reunite with Mummy and the others?)

Eh.... your Ben is so much bigger lah. How much did you feed him? He is a good dog. Unlike my Baskin, like a gorilla, jumping here and there.

BTW, I called Mr. L yesterday. Cert not ready yet. He told me that Baskin's birth date is on 21 Sept. On the day when I bought him, he's not even 8 weeks yet. Meaning now (if the birth date given is correct), he is only 15 weeks old instead of 4 months plus.

My training starts at 1pm. Initially,I thought yours is from 11.30am to 12.30pm. So last week I reached there around 12.30pm and thought maybe I can still meet you for a while. But I didn't see you there. Only then I got to know from CS that yours starts at 11.15am. Nevermind, maybe I'll come earlier this Sunday.

Last week, I had different group members. The first lesson, there's a Shih Tzu (Dino) and a Beagle (Sara). There's also another Shih Tzu, but they stayed for a short while only. I think the two Shih Tzus have joined your group. NOw, my group consists of a 10 month old Labrador (Snowy), a min. Schnauzer (Simba) and the same Beagle (Sara).

Wow, Daisy is so good. Didn't jump or bark. If only Baskin is a bit like Daisy. He's like a gorilla Crazy. Beware when you meet him next week!

Pssst..... Here's a little tip for you . Keep on practicing with Daisy on the homework. There may be a little surprise on your coming training. Sorry lah... cannot reveal too much. Otherwise no more excitement Wink.

Regarding the K9 day, maybe I'll just drop by for a while before class. Just to check it out.

Hi Hunter (now I feel like calling your dog Tongue),

Have to take turns to use the garder ar....I thought Sheriff is now big enough to play with Hunter & Muffin? If you have your family members to walk the dogs together with you, then I think it saves time, effort & more fun....In my case, my children & Daisy have to take turns to use the garden, haha....When Daisy jumps up, she is as tall as my youngest son (he is 2 years+), Daisy always likes to jump up and lick their face, so I have to really watch out when they are together...It's ok for my 7 years old son, he knows how to avoid, but my youngest son is still small, Daisy can push him down if she is running towards him. I still encourage them to play together when I'm free to jaga them.

Daisy is our first dog...none of my family members has owned a dog before. No wonder ppl said dog is the best companion, although she is naughty sometimes and get scolding from us, she is always happy when she sees us, she is soooo sweet. She seldom barks, she barks only if I come home but ignoring her or 1st thing in the morning when she is very very hungry and she won't bark for long. If I let her runs free alone, she will start doing all the naughty things, like taking our shoes, biting the plants, digging, etc...so I'll always be around when I let her play in the garden. And yes, she is darker than Hunter, but not very dark gold. How about Muffin & Sheriff, do you have their pictures here? BTW, I like their names and Hunter looks so handsome !

I understand from Kelsey that you are a dog trainer, is that right? So you sure don't have problems training them. I hope when Daisy becomes adult, she will be a sweet & calm lady....

Hi Michelle, you were there 12.30 last sunday? I think we just left la....Unsure

I'm surprise that you said Baskin's birth date was wrong, how come the man is so not responsible??? Actually I wanted to see his pups before I got Daisy, but because Sri Petaling is nearer to my place, I went there first & finally got Daisy....Anyway, I don't think Baskin & Ben know that they are brothers, cos they have been separated for some time already...but I think they look quite the same when I saw their photos in Beyond's avatar and your previous avatarSly

I'm still not sure whether will go to K9 day, if I go, I will look for you, Hunter & Kelsey. I hope I can recognise the dogs...heehee....

p/s: Yes, the 2 shih tzu came to my class....and I know got surprise already, she revealed little bit to me....thanks....
