Both of your dogs are ACS? How old is your Rascal? Your avatar one is Gizmo?

errr....no...that's rascal. Gizmo latest pics are all on my friendster. Very hard to catch candid shots of Gizmo cos he cant sit still! Rascal much easier as he couldnt be bothered with most things already. Tongue

I shall try orijen puppy for both of them this time around. Donnu if it will be such a good idea to feed Rascal puppy formula or not wor.

Rascal I took from the Cocker Spaniel rescue centre in US. We all believed somewhere along his bloodline, he has some ECS blood. But probably very far out since only like 5% of him resembles an ECS. The other 95% all ACS. One look and u'll see an ACS, but stare at him slightly longer, u'll notice the ECS characteristics.

Just curious, where are you based now? US or Malaysia?

If you can afford but two different pack for them.
If Rascal is not more than 3 years old, feeding him puppy food won't do much harm to him, just to make sure he has sufficient exercise to burn the extras.

My 1 1/2 year old beagle Whoopy always stealing Golden's puppy food. And she is one slim and trim beagle, because she is very active and play a lot with Golden. They both like to swap food whenever there is an opportunity.

in Malaysia now.

Hmmmm enough exercise....hmmm ok maybe not such a good idea to feed rascal puppy formula then. Maybe i'll get 2 different formula. Wink

Thanks for the advice.

Wow...17kg??? Isn't it too heavy as an ECS? The picture you shown was not the recent one, I think.

I have a 18mths old beagle only 11kg. Some beagle at 14kg already look very plump, can't imagine 17kg being an ECS.

Yesterday I brought Golden for a swim, he can't swim very well....may be nervous and can't really float, kept on swallowing water. I have to help him float. And I suspect his fur too thick and made his paws very heavy to paddle with water.

Hehehe...two towel only. But cannot totally dry, just damp and drive back home straight. Clean him thoroughly. Luckily his fur is easy to clean, didn't carry a lot of sand.

It was Golden's first swimming experience. We thought spaniel should be very good in water and love the water, didn't know that he doesn't like the cold water. He was totally freaked out and almost drown initially. It took quite a while to coax him and let him gain confidence to join us into the water.

hello there.. where u bring ur golden for a swim ar???

I'm only know 1 utama there can swim when there got dog events..

Last time i brought my bobby for a swim also, at the begining , i also quite worried he cant swim, cos he look like wan drown le..but my bf just let bobby tried himself in the water, n at last, bobby can swim n very enjoy it .. i think this is due to bobby like the water very much, so he didnt scare at all...Laugh

Maybe u can bring some toy or bottle n throw it in the water, let ur golden go to pick it, maybe he will forget abt the nervous.. n u also can buy a life jacket for golden if u scare..

Btw, will u all go to the Malaysia Responsible Dog Ownership Day ? maybe we can hav a cocker spaniel gathering there , hehe ..

Re: [agneslim] Looking For Cocker Spaniel Lovers [In reply to] Can't Post

Yesterday I drove all the way to Raub and rescue a pair of ACS from a backyard breeder there. This pair of adult ACS (3yrs old) has been put up for sale nearly 8 months. I really pity their fate and decided to rescue (buy) them in order to avoid them falling into another backyard breeder again. I pick up the dogs and send them straight to my regular groomer.

They are full of fleas, and the male dog both eyes are sore and have infection. I've put some eye drop. Tomorrow I have to bring him to vet for check up. The groomer has to trim near botak for both of them, as their fur are too dry and matt.

Luckily both of them are quite good in temperament. The male one is called COCO, the female one I rename her Cheezel. I sent Cheezel to my sister's house, let her take care and adopt her because my sister's pet dogs are all female. I take COCO back to my house. Golden was jealous but he acted so funny. He covered all his stuff (toy, water pail, food dish, cage) and sit there jaga, but never show any agressiveness. Luckily COCO can get along well with both my dogs.

Now a big big challenge is, to manage 3 of them. All 3 wanted my attention and equal treatment at the same time. All the while Golden is sleeping with us in bedroom, and Whoopy is quite independent sleeping in the cage outside. I put COCO inside the house in another cage downstair. COCO kept on barking, so I put him together with Whoopy, but he still bark, so when I put Golden together with him in the same cage. He will then quiet. After a while Golden started to bark, wanted me to take him back to my bedroom. Pening..... COCO still got fleas, sure Golden will kena as well as Whoopy. Hubby do not allow COCO comes into our room, further more we do not know COCO's sleeping pattern that well yet.

One thing I notice, COCO is quite manja, like to sit very near to me. Golden quite jealous. COCO keep on want to hump Golden....he dared not try on Whoopy, as Whoopy is very dominant dog. Luckily I do not have Cheezel around, otherwise both male dogs like crazy keep on chase after Cheezel wanted to smell her butt.Blush

Cheezel is quite small size (about bichon size). COCO is same size as Golden.

Here is COCO picture after grooming:-

COCO is silver buff color. Golden is red buff in color.

wow.....coco is beautiful too......

well coco is still new in the environment mah, so thats why really craving for real human's attention lor. I wonder how they treated him in the last home...must be really bad lah....

How come the 'owner' so willing to give up the dogs lei?

All three hentam frontline first lah....until u make sure no more fleas only u can stop lor.....at least ur other 2 better hentam frontline already lor.....golden fur so thick and nice, if kena lagi banyak headache! Crazy

I'm thinking of shaving rascal botak liao......at least until gizmo stop biting his fur then only I let it grow again. If not, here nice nice I comb him down, 30 minutes with gizmo and all matted again! Crazy there goes my 2 hours of hardwork dematting him. Maybe I'll get the thinning scissors that they sell in Watson's for RM26+ and slowly thin him down myself. Hahahahaahaha see how it looks like. Very cialat looking only take go groomer and shave all off.

keep us updated on the 2 rescued ACS yah!

Re: [steffy1811] Looking For Cocker Spaniel Lovers [In reply to] Can't Post

I took them for my vet check up yesterday. Both dogs have yeast fungal infection in ears and skin. Coco eyes have infection too. Cheezel is quite fat, the vet also can't certain whether Cheezel is pregnant or not. Because the seller also doesn't know when she was supposed to be on heat, she delivered her last batch of puppies was in end December last year. And both dogs are confined in same cage ever since the puppies were sold.

To play safe, the vet also dared not give me any pills for healing its yeast fungal infection. Just on the safe side, we use medicated shampoo to treat, it may be slow, at least it is safe for her babies in case she is pregnant. Otherwise the babies will die inside her stomach, then do more harm than good.

I have taken some of Cheezel pictures, can see how big her stomach, and obvious skin infection problem. I tried to take her for a walk, she can't walk far. Will stop and rest. If she is not pregnant, also too fat for her, not good for her health in the long term. Hopefully she is not pregnant lor...keep my finger cross....I bought them at RM1k but I didn't plan to breed them (Coco & Cheezel are from same family tree).

Coco and Golden is same weight at 9.55kg. And this Cheezel is 10.2kg. Her body is smaller size than them.

hey guys,

I have a Cocker Spaniel too. According to the previous owner, he's a mix of poodle & CS.

He's still very playful eventhough he's 4 plus now. haha.

He's hyperactive too.

hello,

Yeah, he's more of a Cocker than a poodle. The hair is straight on top and very curly on the bottom, ears & head (should be from a poodle then).

He's hair is kinda thick though, he's 13.5kg.

He exercises a lot though, he runs a lot.Need to bring him to jungle tracking!!..haha..

Hey Yen,

Sparky came back on Monday morning. I've posted on the other thread. Apparently someone kept him and he was able to run out. The dognapper also took out he's tick collar. Probably because he was coughing.

Thanks for the help & concern!. I promise he will have good training and will not let him go missing again.

Hi, I think the Vet should be able to tell if Cheezel is pregnant or not. To have peace of mind, why not take her for an untrasound scan. If not preg. can also determine if there is anything wrong or not.

In the second pic she looks blissfully in whelp but pic can be deceiving. Good luck.

Hahaha...Cheezel was fat not pregnant. We had trimed her down quite a lot now. Walk her every day.

Now she looks like this.

Much happier than she was with the backyard breeder.
