i like hunter's size for a golden... i think coz he is not so big-boned, thats why he looks so elegant and fit. He's like a working golden in shape (lean) but nice long fur and very blonde like the show dogs huh? youre so lucky ... but then again you also work hard to give him the best and to train him!

Dunno about brinkley walking like a woman (well, she IS a female dog)... but I know Luckey takes after her mum, she wiggles her bum when she walks! Laugh

i must say.. his size is... convenient? it's good that he doesn't look too big and bulky. just the right size for me (if he gets any bigger i can't control him, i'm already having problems pulling him back now)..

show dogs? i wouldn't go that far.. though i hope to. was hoping to take him to dog shows, just hoping. but it seems my dog is waaaaaay different from those competing in shows (big body, long hair - close to perfection). rather dissapointing.

LOL my dog wiggles his bum too. and his wiggling made him look so ladylike - end up being mistaken as a girl doggie :D

oh i don't think hunter looks like a woman when he walks... looks more like a prince charming or something. And that picture with the superpup cloak was soooo cute... and REGAL! The cloak made him look like royalty... all he needs is a crown.

Re: [hunter] golden and 'mudbath' [In reply to] Can't Post

yeah she still looks pretty much the same as when we first got her,... but her legs are now longer and she's grown bigger than Luckey... and she has that mark going across her face... the vet says that's the way her hair grows, its like a birthmark, but more promininent now than when she was younger.

The only thing is she is also looking thinner than before... don't know if its coz she is "shooting up" getting taller and longer so not so round, but she def. doesnt look chubby like puppies usually do. We thought it might be worms, but we just got her dewormed recently. Any ideas?

bTW how much did you feed Hunter when he was 4 months plus?

Re: [luckey] golden and 'mudbath' [In reply to] Can't Post

ohhh... no wonder there's a mark. isn't quite noticable though. never mind anyway, she's still a cute little angel :D

have u added her food amount? if she has grown you might have to increase her food amount.

i feed hunter 1 cup for one meal (2 meals per day) when he was 4 months... but after some time, his stomach kept growling, so i increased it to 1 1/2 cups one meal (also 2 meals per day) - he was growing really fast during that time period.

brinkley looks okay to me.. when i first got hunter, he was 4 months old.. the puppy photo of hunter i posted on the gallery is taken when he was 4 months plus. my dog looks almost similar with brinkley, only bigger and taller (maybe because he's a male dog)

if she is eating and sleeping well, perhaps there's not much to worry about... at 4 months the growing process is much faster.. maybe she's growing, growing and growing :)

Re: [hunter] golden and 'mudbath' [In reply to] Can't Post

At the moment Brinkley eats 3 meals a day, but at suppertime (midnight, coz we are usually still awake) she will find her way downstairs to look for food to see if there is any leftover and eat that. She eats about 3 cans of canned food a day and dog kibble to go with that too,... so it seems like enough, coz she doesnt neccessariyl finish her food at all meals, but we thought we'd better feed her the amount recommended for a dog her age.

But then she gets hungry again quite quickly. I guess thats why they say puppies need to eat more often. Hope she grows! Smile

But she is beginning to realize that she's bigger than luckey, and sometimes gets on top of luckey when she is sick of luckey stealing her chewbones, and just holds her down with a paw, and when luckey tries to nibble her ear to tell her off, she just lifts her head and luckey can't reach!

3 cans of canned food? sounds enough for a dog her age... since she's getting hungry at midnight, have u considered feeding her more? normally the feeding amount is based on the puppy's weight.. that's what my vet suggested me to do (to feed him a little more), when i found my dog's stomach growling so loudly in afternoon and midnight.

hahahhhaha !!!! that's so cute! then luckey must think twice before bullying her little sister now, since she'll grow even bigger in future :D

90 as in lbs? i'm not sure how much my dog weighs... i think about 28 or 27 kg... not too sure.. he's the small type anyway.

if he's overweight, try cutting down the treats..it's still better to keep the dog in lean shape :)

Yeah maybe we'll increase her food slightl;y... but the thing is she doesnt always finish her food at her mealtimes, then she gets hungry at night! Maybe she follows us, coz we have very bad eating habits too!

BTW your Hunter looks so distinguished in that picture!

hehe.. i just put it on and asked him to stay.. so he sat quietly while i set the readings on the manual camera. then i made funny noises ("doDoOooOoo..." to be precise) and he just cocked his head one side, and i just took the photo :D

after taking the photo he pawed the glasses off immediately :)

luckey,

my dog always doesn't finish his food (although he's REALLY hungry). when i place the food bowl, he will go in his doghouse, sit down (like meditating). he would only eat if either me or my mom is there.

my vet always say, if they don't finish their food (say within 10 or 15 minutes).. just pour them away. soon they'll get the message and finish up the food quickly during mealtimes(then ur dog won't be hungry at night hopefully).

i think goldens are manja doggies. when u place the food bowl. they sit faaaar away, waiting for u to "invite".. then slowly walk and eat like a king LOL

Ya~!

I thought it's just a weird habit of Mack only?!

When I first brought mack home, he used to have me, or at least someone besides him during his meal time. I purposedly "trained him" so coz I don't want him to bite/bark on others who get close to him when i'm not around, or when my sister's kids get close to him. Soon, it became his habit.
Mack used to have someone besides him to dote him, I have to say "finish mum-mum" then only he'll eat... if i walk away, he sure will walk away from his bowl and try to get attention from me...
and he used to have a vitamin tablet before his meal. and need to shake hands before he take the tablets. So everytime, he has to "come", "sit", "hand-hand", "vitamin", then "finish the mum-mum" (n times)Smile

hey!!!

i say "finish mum-mum" to my doggy too then only he'll eat!!! :D :D :D

what u said just now was EXACTLY similar to my dog.. except for the long process of come, sit, shake hand, vitamin and eat though.. so funny :D

as for eating tablets, he'll sit, wait for me to pry open his mouth, and pop in the pill, and then he'll swallow it himself (with additional "gulp!" sound) :D

they're really so cute angel :):):)

Actually Mack loves to take the vitamin!Wink
wonder how it taste like.....

even when he has no appetite to take his kibbles, he still want to have the vitamin.

As what i've mentioned, they are not a long process, mack will do it "continuos" at once. it just like a MUST DO steps for him,(not for meTongue). He'll do them automatically one...like that's how he could get the vitamin.

Happened to Rex 2 months ago.. For some weired reasons, I need to accompany him in order for him to finish his food. I need to command "FInish your food". However, such behavior has been gone.

Quite similar to your case, I give multi-vitamins.. but only after the dinner. Like wise, it's retraining cum "re-enforcement" time for him.. Smile. else he won't get to eat them. Poor Rex.. Laugh

Smile

Harlow his behaviour came back when he was staying with us lol....i had to stand beside him for him to eat his food and i also gave him the 'finish your food' command otherwise if i left him and go check on Biscuit and his food Rex will whine at the door and vice versa for Biscuit.

Good Idea~ let him finish his food first then only get the vitamin as "reward".

But I know... mack always insisted to get the vitamin first, else, he'll kinda show you the face of "okie...then i dun take the foodUnimpressed"

Hahahahahh~~~~Laugh

Luckey must be complaining how come mama never find out the reason behind UNTIL NOW?Crazy

So, did you up-lift his bowl? when mack was still a lil pup, i didn't up-lift his bowl and just feed him on the floor... until his 4-legs spread outwards and his stomach touched the floor.... but he will re-adjust everytime. So cute~! (this only happened the first few days i brought him home)
