HI Riccaval,
Wanted to get the advice of a seasoned and successful show person... am taking both Luckey and Brinkley for the March MIPE shows... am putting Brinkley in minor puppy, but Luckey is pretty green herself. SHe will be 8 months... should i put her in the Puppy class, or annother class? And should I just enter one class?

G'day Jennifer, Luckey is eligible for 4 classes but u can forget abt Open class since the matured and imported ones will be there. If I were u, I'll go for PUPPY and maybe MAL.BRED...If u want u can also go for MAIDEN since she have never won a 1st prize but personally I dont find this class appealing moreover its not good to be entered in so many classes. Makes u look amatuerish. So my opinion is PUPPY if u enter only one class and MAL.BRED at the most. Hope that helps. As for your invite, I'm honoured and I'll make sure I'm free on that day. So you think she will have most chance in the PUPPY category? guess so, since she hasnt grown all her feathers yet, and in the other classes, the dogs may already look full nad glorious in their long coats. SHe still has puppy hair on her.
Do you think better to just enter one class? (i heard that if you are defeated in one class but win another, you are automatically disqualified from the specials? If that is the case, why would anyone enter more than one class? Just wondering

Hiya, thanks! We are all so proud of her... but now to tackle prenovice which seems a lot harder!!!
Yes rang up MKA and told them... they were ok with it and said they would enter for me and not charge me extra. I didnt send anything in writing yet though... but maybe i should just to make sure our names are down.
HOw many dogs are you taking to that show, and are you entering them for obedience as well? Do you handle any of the dogs yourself nowadays or you let your kids have all the fun?
Hi Jenn, I have registered 3 for both shows but nothing for obedience trial. None of my dogs are ready for it. With 3 of the same breed in the ring, I will most certainly have to handle at least one of them.

OMG! how are you going to handle 3 dogs at one go for training??? even with Jaz alone, sometimes me and my sister finding i hard to control her.. imagine 1 person to 3 dogs!!! wow!!

Do you have the schedule of events for the MIPE shows? I sent in ym forms and forgot to make a copy, and now don't have the dates coz MIPE official site doesnt have the dog shows featured.
My cousin's getting married that friday (14th March) so am hoping the doggy activities only start on Saturday.
Hi Lisa/jaz.......the 3 dogs are entered for the conformation show only not for training or obed trial. so I guess it'll be easier, moreover I have a few 'mah chai' ie my kids to help out, so no problem here
Yup 3 only...actually wanted to enter more but the sudden hike in entry fee was a deterant. so only bring the ones got more potentials. Mind you the hike was not small and for 2 shows it could easily set you back 3 to 4 hundred bucks. I'm sure Khoo would agree with me. Winter and Bear will be there plus one nkotb. Most likely I'll handle one, Joe with winter and bear???undecided
Yes Jennifer, the doggie events for us starts on the 15th(Sat). The normal check in time is 8-9 am. MKA will send you a confirmation letter before the show and the schedule and catalogue will be available on the day of the show. So ur safe. Cheers
Jaz, Conf.show is just like a beauty pageant. Your dog need not be smart but must be able to show off itself. The judge will look at everything, front ,back,side profile. How the dog gait or moves. The bite ie dentition etc. The judge will then pick out the winner which in his mind is the best representative of the breed according to the standard established. The winner will then challenge the other breed winner in the same group. Then the group winner will challenge the other group winner and so on until they reach the ultimate BEST IN SHOW.

Ooohh... too bad Jaz's hind legs are shedding... i am not sure how long it's going to take for her fur to finally grow back... any idea usually how long does it takes? Otherwise, i would actually consider in letting her try out on this competition and have fun!

heard so much about the agility contest here. is that all they got for this march show? will there be show on breed conformation too? will there be any stalls selling pet products too?
Oops should be Jo. Joe sounds like a guy. Anyway I want her to handle Winter since they are together in Pre-novice too. but not to sure abt Ashley with Bear. She's still young maybe only for junior handler contest.

Hey you should get Jo to take Winter for the pre-novice trial also... I've entered Luckey for that. . NIcer to have a classmate there, otherwise so intimidating, we wouldnt even have gotten halfway through our course yet! ...
Are you bringing any of your Boston terriers for the show?
ALso the post before this mentions something about agility? any chance of agility at any of our malaysian shows?
