Hi there,

I would like to thank the Webmaster & all dog lovers who had taken so many beautiful pictures of doggies at the AKC event. At least we did not regret for not bringing enough film that day...

I would also like to thank those who had taken individual shots of my dog with their doggie(s). My dog is an ECS (golden), the one dressed as a 'cowgirl' named Gienah. Please post the photos on the web, so that we could keep them for remembrance. Thanks again!

Rgds,

MOYSC

It is just once a year. In between, we do have other events such as Malaysia K9 Day that is quite similar to the RDO Day. So stay tuned for more.

Re: [Khoobg] AKC Puppycom Responsible Dog Ownership Day 2004 [In reply to] Can't Post

Dear Khoobg and co.,

I really enjoyed all puppycom events. It's fun and exciting. However, there are a few things i wish to suggest :)

1. do recruit some RedCrescent/St.John members to be on standby. These ppl you can get from secondary schools or from univesities in Klang Valley. They will be more than willing to help puppycom as these ppl are meant to serve the community for free, and they will be glad to be on duty even on weekends or sundays. When i was a student, i also went on duty whenever there is an event in town. of course the organiser gotta contact our troop leader. RDO Day or K9 Day will last the entire morning till noon...so it is essential to have these paramedics around to treat dog owners who might experience sprain/bruises/faint/muscle cramp ..cos under hot sun.

2. also, you may consider to set up a database(yahoo groups for example) to gather all those who would like to volunteer to help in puppycom events. i can't guarantee to be a volunteer for every of ur event, but sometimes when i am free, i wish i can help. but how? thus, i suggest have a database, we subsricbe to you to be volunteers, you email the volunteers, inform us if there is any briefing etc etc. Cos i see you ppl seems like short of manpower, always the same ppl doing all the work, esp on RDO Day last week. Lets recruit MORE ppl to help out, to VOLUNTEER.

3. if possible, you may also organise pet care talks/demo in schools/shopping centres to encourage kids to love animals. as you can see, those ppl who come to RDO, are mostly already responsible dog owners, but how to reach out to those who are not so loving to their pets? i think it is good to have demos in public and some light seminar on how to take care of pets. better still if it can be done together with paws/spca/puppycom. I think younger generation quite lack of awareness. It is also an unhealthy trend when "dog lovers" only love pure breed.

well, these are just some suggestions to puppycom. your events are very much enjoyed by everyone. i noticed also many tend to leave early, maybe u can think of some ways to make them stay longer in your coming event :)

keep up the good work!! i admire what puppycom has achieved.

cheers

HI,

Thanks for your kind words. We are glad that many enjoy the RDO and the K9 Day. We appreciate your time and effort and put forward those suggestion to us and we definitely hope to organize more similar events in the future.

Your suggestion on the RedCrescent/St.John members is definitely one we have to look into for future events. We did have at least on visitor nearly fainted due to hot sun I guess during the recent RDO Day.

As for the volunters, we will set up a more effective line of communication so that those who are interested to help out can register with us. Once we have more volunteers, we will definitely be able to organize more workshop or talk on responsible pet ownership in the future. That is in our pipeline.

Thanks and Cheers to our K9 Friends

Hi Foo,

We did have a stall setup by one of our member that sell drink and food. Didn't you see it ?

During the last K9 Day, we did have a place with a lot of water bowl for the doggie and we will do that again for the coming K9 Day in January 2005.

Cheers

Hi Mr Khoo,

Another suggestion for next yr RDO Day; since v hv the police n bomba dogs demo, maybe v could also hv the service/assistance dogs demo --- canine that helps the disabled. V could invite Mr Anthony Thanasayan n his 3 lovely service dogs - Vai, the Rottweiler; Soo, the Golden Retriever n Biman III, the latest member (a GSD puppy).

Don't think there r many service dog for the disabled in M'sia.Frown

Cheers, Hogan's godma cum nanny.Smile
