hey, y'all!! i need y'all advice leh! how to make my oki not so jakun and ulu ah? i am serious. ever since i took him to the OB training that day. i think i really wanted to faint lah! he is sooooo crazy. when he sees any dogs, he will start smelling each and everyone of them until all the dogs either takut of him or snap at him. i want him to make friends with other dogs all but the way he is acting really makes me worry about him not having friends at all. i even think that he is a bit depress after coming back from the OB training that day. maybe he just realised that there are many other dogs around. sigh....
do you guys think that if i bring him out more often to the park minus the dogs will help? or must it be a park with dogs around? and when he is at home, he behaves so nicely but when he is out there. he just like totally forgotten everything! have anyone went thru all this with yr doggies before? HELP!
Hugo boy.. erm... getting bigger and fatter now.. eheh.. and naughtier...he's around 13 weeks now... i wanted to send him to the OB training for puppies.. but they said it's full already.. so i guess i have to keep him till 3 months later... hahaha.. he's a greedy dog.. when there's FOOD.. wah.. he come very easily.. especially now when i've made him the cheese n garlic cookies that i found from the net.. wah.. the smell damn strong.. so i think that's why he listen to me and so "kuai" nowadays.. hahahah...
apart from the biting n chewing problem... there's nothing bad la... i bring him out for walks.. and he's chewing less stones compared to the first time la... but erm.. ddint make any friends yet.. cause housing area not alot of dogs... got also very fierce and scary wan... later my Hugo go near let they all bully where can !?!??!!?
and he doesnt like to eat kibbles... if we give him kibbles only during his meal.. he wont finish it... but if we add canned food.. wah... eat like hungry-dog ... then he will always leave 1 or 2 biji in his bowl...
my rover eat whatever i eat.... everytime when i have food in my hand, he'll come n sit in front of me doing his innocent face making me so serba salah.. want to let him eat also not right, don wan to let him eat oso not right cos his face... aiyo.. he's 3 1/2 months old... anyway, i would like to know what dogs are actually not allowed to eat? (beside chocolates, onions, grapes n berries) my friend told me that dogs are not suppose to eat bread cos it may cause yeast infection but rover loves to eat bread.. it is true?

aiya hunter used to be even more jakun than oki. taking him to MKA training grounds was so embarrassing 2 years ago.. pulling me right in the middle of other ppl's class... trampling all over the spectators watching by the side.... sniffing all his classmate's sifutt...
now he's so much better than last time. more gentle already. i guess it's mostly because of constant exposure to dogs and outside environment (i take him to my neighbourhood garden often, many kids every evening)
i guess u can try to improve the situation by :
1. Taking oki out to meet people in parks and socialise more with other dogs, just let him get used to any type of environment - be it with kids, dogs or adults.
2. attend puppycom gatherings ~~~ a great way to let him get used being around with other dogs and not pull you everywhere like a horse
3. let him grow and mature at his own pace - will settle down when became older :) - hunter gradually gets gentler as he grows.
food with lot of sugar & salt should be avoided at all time. Not too much carbo as well.

Bonney like bread as well, not i will not let her have too much, 1 or 2 pcs of bread a day should do no harm and no problem.
As of kibble (dog food) for a retriever puppy, i personally like to have 25% of protein and 12-13% of fat and 2% of fibre will be the best.

thanks a lot for the advice! shall follow everyone's advice and hope that oki does behaves better. me not that upset anymore. instead went home and played with oki and sayang him. hehehe....happy!

hunter is right.. bring Oki out more la....then he will get used to it mah..
all my dogs are also jakun at first lerr... last time popeye used to be aggresive n will snap at other dogs..after a few training sessions at the OB training, he learned that he is not the king... what i do is bring the dog toward another gently, from the side and tell him to make friends.. if i see his tail go up and he seem irritated, i will take him away quickly... (well.. he doesnt have to be friends with everyone....just most will do)
dogs become aggressive because of various reasons. Labs are generally well tempered.

hahaha...the thing is oki's tail is forever wagging wan, even if he drinks water also wags wan. sigh.... just that other dogs' tail are sometimes straight only. tat means i must look my oki and also the other dog's tail ah. ok ok...got to start analysing already. yeah loh, true....oki doesn't have to be friends with every dog around. at least some also i happy liao.
read yr article. oki does not have any of those signs yet. maybe because he is the only dog in the hse. cannot see the dominating character or competitiveness.
