HI everyone. I am a newbie and just got a male beagle. the beagle is 2 months old.. Any tips for me??? I am staying in KL.... Good to hear that all of your beagles are listening and obeying orders from owners.. Mine, is still small, sometimes can hear sometimes cannot. haiz....
First of all, congratulations that u have chosen a beagle to be your pet. Welcome to this family! but... your journey from here is a tough yet challenging one i reckon...especially if this is your first ever dog. hehe. Nvm about that...u just gonna learn to be very very very patient now when u have a beagle at home..they are very sweet and lovely but behind their angelic faces they are super mischievious and most of the time a troublemaker....nevertheless...dont worry...they will learn to behave after they are half a year old or so...Beagles are also a very stubborn breed..they are very independent despite their genders. So..start your training as early as possible and make sure ur beagle understands your dominance over him/her. They are very naughty and most of the time wont listen to you. So u must establish this obedience in him/her thru early stages of training and prominent communication with them. Make them know clearly that u are their master and they must follow instructions or else dont pamper them. I used to start some body punishments when my beagle was very young and it worked fine enuff..though many might say No to this. but make sure they understand why they were punished and of course u must only punish on the spot and no thereafter. Becareful when ur pup is about 3 months old cos they like to bite anything even you. so make sure that they know they will get a punishment if they do any wrong. Do not be soft spoken to them and pamper them like a shit Hzu. hehe...last but not least....your beagle will surely be a glutton without exception...they eat like buffalos..so u must not allow them to overeat or else they will become obese very soon. U must adjust an appropriate amount of daily intake for them and follow that strictly. You can give them treats some time but nv too much. If u have time take them for a brisk walk everyday unless u have ample space at home for them to move around. Once again...watch their diet closely and also their ears cos they are prone to infections if their ears are not examined from time to time....good luck my friend!! love your beagle !! :)
ermmm......pardon my boldness......i was just wondering if u have interest to let coco breed?? I hope to breed Lou later when he is about 16 months old......now he is 8 months old.....How old is Coco now? I plan to breed my second beagle bitch too but she is too young now and she cant possibly breed with Lou cos they are both tan and white. Do let me know if u have interest.....we can talk about it.....it's fun to breed them and see a nice litter of puppies......it's not just about the money....it's the delight and the joy u get from the arrival of new lives......cute little puppies from ur own dog.......can u imagine the excitement??......it's an experience too......i would at least let my bitch whelp a litter in her entire life b4 i spay her to free her from the pain.
Np!! M actually still thinking over this matter. To breed or not to breed... Afraid that her health will not be in tip top conditions after the breeding. And some more her body will run out of shape... BTW, she's only 9 mths now. Yeah, I noe it's an experience for breeding puppies but i don't have enough space for her and her little ones later.. It will not be so healthy for them to live in a crowded environment..
hmmm... let me think over it.. If you were to breed Lou, then i guessed the litters wld be the same color as Lou lor... Anyway, I'll let you know, ok!!

Actually i only got one question to ask, I was lazy to read the whole thread Do all the beagle smell that bad? Encounter 3 beagle belong to 3 different friend and 3 of the beagle really smell bad.. any way to encounter the problem or they simply smell that way. Thanks
