Public Places for Dogs Can't Post

Dear all,

I brought my dog to Taman Rimba Kiara on Deepavali day to have a picnic. There were no sign in the entrance that says that dogs weren't allowed and the driveway allowed us to drive to the end of the park. It was a quiet morning with a few golfers and buggy going around and my dog was running freely in the park.

The authorities regulation in my vicinity (PJ) states that no dogs are allowed in 1) restaurants and 2) resort areas. No restriction in public places PROVIDED that it is not running freely without the supervision of the owner. So that leaves us to the definition of whether the area is a resort area. Well, chances are if there is a guard house at the front with maintenance services and efforts to beautify the area and the area is accessible to public visitors they will always call it a resort area. If we have a gathering at a padang in SS2 for eg. theorectically the SS2 padang is meant for SS2 residents, so as long as they do not complain it is ok.

In doubt I would never ask a guard whether my dog is allowed. Firstly, Muslims (amongst others) are definitely not comfortable with dogs whether they are on leash or not. Most guards take that into consideration and would say no to it. If Puppy.com were to have a gathering in such places, it would be very conspicuous and the Park authorities would probably keep an eye on future doggie visitors. I always sneak my dog to places which fall between a "resort" and a "public place" during quieter hours and act stupid when they question me (no sign what!) they will probably let me go for that time and I will never return the second time lo. For coffee shops I choose non-halal shops with an open court-yard and I would not bother to ask for permission. Just work in non-chalantly and tie your dog under the table and no one would notice.

If in doubt, don't ask!If you have done it a few times you would be a natural!

Hey, I took my two dogs to the park too. It was around 5 pm. There were many families there and all I want to say is that the Malays family acted best. The chinese families were shrieking and runnign away from my two fellas. Really ridiculous and both were on leashes and none exceed ten kilograms.

Pity we missed each other.

I have been training my two dogs for obedience every day at football field a short distance away from my house. Next to the field is a small mosque and I must say the Malays there are friendly. Most of them view the two dogs with more curiousity and with smiling face. I guess most of them do accept the fact we chinese and indian and many other races like to keep dogs as companion. It is not that bad afterall.

Talking about non-halal restaurant. I once thought of bringing Teddy together to a bak kut teh shop. But then, another thought came rushing out where the thought of them using Teddy for one of the bak kut teh ingredient turns me off.

hi there,

Rex's training/play ground is just in front of my house. And he has to be off-leash as we play fetch game everyday.

There's a lake nearby (10 min walk), at times, i do walk him there. Bought Delithra (puppy.com member, her dog is Axel) to the lake yesterday, and Axel was dying to jump into the lake! Luckily, she managed to control him..

Hi CdMoo,

This place you mentioned would be in Kota Kemuning right? Is it the park where there's a big water fountain in the middle of the lake?

i found a dog friendly cafe somewhere in klang too. Well, the owner itself also has one doggie tied up behind the cafe. I think he let it loose at night though just to 'jaga' his cafe. Its an open air cafe.

Its pretty difficult if doggie pee at that place as it has no concrite floor.

So if anyone interested, maybe you can just ask the owner's permission before getting in. Wink

Well, if anyone interested can always email me at lisa_chew80@yahoo.com

Dear All

If there's a pet friendly place, I believe we can mention the name of the place in this forum since it's not related to pet food /product business.

Please clarify. Otherwise we'll be missing a lot of spots as it's difficult to find a shop without the name.

My Mille always get sneak in to hotels. As for the makan places, I just place him on the chair and he'll sit there pretty quietly until a cockroaches or some insects passes by.

This is a little late but I work part-time at a restaurant/bar in Desa Sri Hartamas called Flagz. It's a nice (but slightly pricey) place with a garden terrace where you can bring your dogs whilst you socialise with friends! Some of our regulars have lovely dogs-- Boxers, German Shepards, Dobes, Cocker Spaniels.. Kitties welcomed too! I hope this has been useful. :)

I've been to Flagz once...but not long enough to notice if there were any dogs there...

Anyway...the neighborhood I live in, Taman Desa (near megamall), is pretty dog friendly. I took my sunnie to the park once (which I shouldnt have becuz she's still too young) and saw at least 5 dogs there...pugs, MS, pekingese...terriers....

My mum also told me that her friend brings her shih tzu for yam cha to the chinese coffee shop here pretty often....and the coffee shop is okay with it.

Maybe it's becuz Taman Desa is mostly Chinese occupied, that's why dogs are more welcomed.

Flagz is open 5pm to roughly midnight or later; depends on if we still have customers or not but we don't encourage patrons to stay til too late la, of course. People wanna go home too, y'know. :p
Fridays and Sundays we open for lunch at noon. You can bring yer furkids and sit in the garden terrace or if you have small-ish breeds, you can sit at the five foot way, we have tables there too.
Bring yer furkids! I don't work everyday; in fact, i havent started working yet since after exams, see how la. I'll let you all know when I start work again then BRING YER FURKIDS so I can see them! :p

It's a corner lot, front facing a road and side wall of the next block, the side facing a slightly muddy-ish dirt track. If you're walking with your dog and come across Pasta Connection, there's a little dirt path next to it, walk along it onto the other side and you'll see Flagz on yer left. The owners are ok with our furry other halves; most of the patrons there are expats with families. The food served is English and Asian, with some Mediterannean.

Looking forward to seeing your furkiddies!!

Possibly coming for the Agility Party as well, with a friend. Haven't confirmed anything yet, may have to start work that morning itself, I'll keep y'all posted. *grins*

If my dog like say...cannot ctrl their poo poo or wee wee and does it there...are the owners going to kill me? I mean, I will sure clean it up but are they ok with it not? Coz the other cafe I know which is dog friendly doesn't mind the poo n wee as long as we as the owners do pick it up then they will clean it properly later.

Just pick up the poo, I suppose. The boss has never complained before about doggies being around. I suppose he's more tolerant of them being mat salleh and all. He allows me to "socialize" with the dogs as long as I scrub my hands and arms with soap before serving customers! Tongue

Pasta Connection closed down, now there's another pasta place there.. I think it's called Pasta Connection too. Dunno la.

And my name's Karen. It'll be a bomb meeting all of you. Bye bye. Cool

If you wanna hold a gathering, I think we gotta let the boss know. But yer furkids are all tiny darlings, shouldn't be a problem having more than a couple or so. It's the bigger, more noticeable ones that might irk some customers, although the regulars wouldn't mind.

I'll be working through Raya starting Wednesday, 4th Dec, right up to Sunday. After that, I'll need to work a schedule out with the boss again.

I have seen many others bringing their dogs there as well.

It is opposite the old Ruby (I think it is call ruby) theater which is now converted to a church. The name is How Fook Restaurant. Note:there are many restaurant there so make sure you get the right one.

Many doggie cheers,

i used to bring my dog along when i go hiking in Youth park penang. When i walk around the waterfall, the malay families are ok with her, some parents even allowed their kids to play with her.LaughThe villians are the park attendant which is a Malay. He told me that i'm cannot bring my dog to the park again and if he sees my doggie again, he'll shot her...MadMad.

hikers has been bringing their dog up the hill for years and when i told him that, he say the hill is none of his bussiness....

just wanted to say that, for our doggie safety..better dont bring them for a stroll at youth park

There is a sign at the entrance of the park that says no dogs allowed so he has the right to tell u that u r not allowed to bring your dog there...but saying he will shoot the dog if he sees u bringing her again is an outrage.....that being said, i hv also brought my dog to the park a few times but i brought him there during non peak hours and if any attendant were to catch me with my dog then i'd buat tak tahu and said i didn't see the sign sorry lol....but no one stopped me so far....the hills over there are leading to Penang Hill right? I've heard a lot of ppl bringing their dogs hiking there....another popular place to hike with your dog is the Bukit Jambul hill....brought mine there a few times....he's so fast i can't keep up with him...very tiring!

How i wish there are dog's cafe where owners can meet and have tea while our dogs can socialise at the same time.. i know my problem has a major problem socializing with other dogs, but after a while she's getting better.. now i realize how important it is for dogs to mix around like we human :)

I know that this thread has not been active for sometime now but why not get it started again. I am sure that there are more places ( makan and non makan ) that our members have discovered that they are very willing to share with the rest of us doggie ppl.

Shall we....

I'll begin again. The last time out in Pg, I took Pepperboy to RICE, a little 'hip' restaurant located at the GARAGE. All the staff there agreed that their owners have no issue with dogs and there are no non-doggie staff there. The outer section is small but can be extended. Food is not bad too.

Check it out.

Hi J,

I am actually more fimiliar with holiday places rather than restaurants. Because I am not originally from KL, I am still learning of new places from the members of our portai.

Pepperboy used to travel a lot when I first had him due to my heavy travel schedule around the country. And each time, I have some time off ( very seldom actually ), I would take him on a vacation with me. They are not exactly doggie-friendly, but sought of turns a blind eye. As I had earlier mentioned, out of respect for those who been kind to us, I will not mention the names of the premesis but if you are interested, you can write me at red_hawk for further details.

Some of the holiday places which I could possibly help you with includes Kuantan, Cameron Highlands, Penang Hill, Lumut and yes, it does help if your doggy is small and a bit sneaky.

Had brunch at Uptown this morning after our walk-walk at Taman Rimba Bukit Kiara in a quiant little place called the Coffee Place. Spoke to one of the partners, Derrick Quah who said that its okay for Pet Owners to bring their furkids to the outside portion of his cafe so long as we clean up after our kids. The shop is directly opposite of McDonalds in Damansara Uptown. Enjoy...

Hi hcyeap,

thanx for the info, i'll bring along my doggies n check it out oneday.

Are u originally from Penang? If u are, do u know any staying places tht allow us to bring dogs along. I like to travel to penang (especially enjoy the drive up to ferringi hill there), n wish tht i can bring along my doggies v me too, i've never took them to long-journey travel b4, worrying where to stay when they r v me, plus, they r not small, they r medium size so impossible to sneak to anywhere.

cheers

Dear Jay,

don't you mind what others think? so long as you love your doggies, so what if they are mongrels. Sure Cuties has an upper advantage just like all cute girls, I guess... It is how we percieve our kiddies which matters more really. Even if others never brought theirs, bring yours anyway, and try...worse comes to worse, they could ask us to leave... and we don't go there again.. Happen to me like a hundreds of times, but if we don't try, we'll never know, right?

good luck - come to the events, love to meet your doggies sometime.

hi to all,
i've just discover this puppy.com and i've would very AGREE with patricia. here..WHERE IS OUR FREEDOM FOR OUR DOGs !!! i've understand that there is a bit of freedom to bring our Dogs around town freely in PJ, Damansara, subang, sunway area BUT how about other places like Ampang,Melawati, Ulu klang, wangsa maju, shah alam, (mostly in Bumiputra area) they would look at you like one kind. (get rid of that creature) SAD!
In Apartment or Condominium, (no pet allow..) hmm...but i see there a lot of CATs (wat is tat creature than? human?) How bout our dogs?
i feel very sad for my baby(dog) have to stay at home most of the time and if want to go out also have to seak out quitely or secretly, scare others will see (at the moment)...and luckly my dog knows and stay very quite..Smile
Help us all!
