yeap. what u heard is right  the smaller the dog is..the longer its life span(provided the quality of life is good)
the average life span of a Great Dane is abt 7-10 yrs..although some live to abt 12..that's considered really old.
the smaller breeds..like the toys can live up to 20 yrs~ well, read that some where anyways.
A friend's dog..mini poodle mix i think lived abt 18 yrs.
