Re: [Namen] Barking in the morning and evening. *sigh*

Some dogs bark for a reason & some don't. For your dog's case, he barks for no reason. Have you tried putting on bark collar before? We have one & it's actually a spray that sprays directly at your dog's nose. It's harmless & will not hurt the dog. Lime juice gets sprayed out & the dogs will not like it. Everytime the dog barks, he gets sprayed automatically. But unfortunately, once your dog's used to it, he will not stop barking eventhough the thing is spraying at him all the time. There's also electric collar but I'm sure you don't want that... You can get the spray collar at Ikano. We got ours there but it was the only one left & it cost around RM100+.

There's another thing you can do too. This method will not hurt the dog but it will startle the daylight out of it. Fill a coke can with stones. The moment he starts barking, throw it hard on the ground till it makes a very loud noise! Throw it just in front or beside him. But when you throw it, give a firm command, "NOOOO!!!" too with finger pointing at him. It takes about 50 times, 50 corrections before the dog can learn & break a bad habit. So 50 times you'll need to be consistent at correcting him.

No more sayangs, pettings or even talking to him softly like, "It's okay lah, don't worry. There's nothing out there..." This is only encouraging the dog to bark more & he will NEVER learn. So, be a little bit more firm with him. I'm sure he's no longer a small puppy...
