Hi ... Yes ... most correct ... dogs' eyes do speak too ... but dogs do use their eyes and eye contact in quite a different way from us ... ... For us (and most primates), when we communicate with another person, we like to maintain some form of eye contact ... and we use eye contract to show our attention, focus and interest in the message being conveyed. For dogs (as canids), it's quite the opposite ... and eye contact can be confrontational or rude ... You will notice that when friendly dogs (and dogs with good command of doggie language) meet, they will avoid making & holding eye contact. When 2 dogs make serious eye contract ... it's a good time to keep the dogs apart ... when there is direct eye contact, and neither dog backs off ... watch out!!! When approaching a new or strange dog ... avoid making direct eye contract ... and approach the new dog slightly from the side ... that shows your politeness and your wish to be friends ... Have fun.
