The French Bulldog found its beginnings in France around
the 1800Ęs. Their body is muscular, compact, and low to
the ground. They have a level skull with large and erect
bat-like ears. Color: brindle, fawn, white, brindle and
white. Their smooth short coat does shed. They only
require minimal grooming care. Training: early
socialization and obedience. Exercise: minimal daily
exercise. Wonderful companion for those living in an
apartment or home lacking a yard. They are quite adaptable
to their owners environment.
This breed is not a yappy one, and they are very easy to
keep. The French Bulldog needs to be protected from
temperature extremes. They overheat quite easily. They
also need to be protected from pools and any body of
water; they can quickly and easily drown. The Frenchie
makes a good watchdog, too. Great companion for singles
and elderly. The French Bulldog is fair with very young
children; they are good with older children that are
gentle and considerate. They are good with pets and with
other dogs.
Possible
health concerns: cleft palate, cleft lip, premature disc
degeneration, eye lacerations, respiratory difficulties.
